Elden Ring Nightreign - How to Play Solo

You can play Solo in Elden Ring Nightreign. Learn how to play solo and the advantages and disadvantages of playing Elden Ring Nightreign in single player.

Can You Play Solo?

Playing Solo is Possible

Solo Play Possible
Playing solo can be done in Elden Ring Nightreign. You'll be entering the world without two other companions and you will tackle expeditions alone. This can be done both while connected to the internet and while on Offline Mode.

Playing Solo has its own advantages and disadvantages but since the game is designed for a cooperative experience, this may impact the player's approach to the game.

Solo Mode is recommended for people who are either experts at the game, have network issues, prefer experiencing the game solo or just want to test mechanics out.

Go to Roundtable Hold and Change Settings

Change Expedition Type to Single Player

To play Solo, you can head to the Roundtable Hold and change the Matchmaking Settings by switching Expedition Type from Multiplayer to Single Player.

You will be disconnected from FromSoft's matchmaking network and you will start a game immediately in a solo expedition once you pick the Nightlord you wish to battle.

Playing Offline is Possible

Playing the game solo in offline mode is also possible. Solo mode is accessible whether the player is offline or online but players should preferably play the game offline if they are going solo.

HP Scaling Matched For Solo Player

Elden Ring Nightreign Crucible Knight Solo
Solo Expeditions are scaled based on the number of players present in the lobby and to accomodate the solo-player experience, HP stats are balanced for a solo expeditioner.

This means certain fights will be less time-consuming due to lower enemy HP values, allowing solo Nightfarers to progress faster during their Expeditions. Solo players can take advantage of this to speed through Points of Interest and gain equipment better suited for later Night runs.

Buffs Provided for Solo Mode

Solo Revenant
FromSoft patched the game to 1.01.1 as of June 2, 2025, with the patch including buffs for solo play. Among those buffs include increased rune acquisition and one free revive if downed during a Night Boss fight or a Nightlord boss fight.

Aside from this the player can potentially get an additional two Wending Graces from merchants, with up to three revives per session if lucky.

Thanks to this, Solo Expeditions are now easier to execute than ever before, meaning players who want to play solo now have quality-of-life improvements for their runs!

Stable When Offline

Ironeye Solo
Offline Solo mode allows for stable gameplay without any potential sudden logouts if internet connection becomes a problem. The game still saves even when offline so your progress will be kept.

Should the game upload the saves through the cloud, make sure to properly sync the data first to avoid progress being overrun!

Limited Revives

Wylder Solo Down.png
Despite the balanced HP scaling and theoretically easier expedition experience in solo, you are still practically fighting as a one-man party and enemies are still as difficult as ever if you are not careful with your run.

Should you get downed, there will be no other players to support or revive you. The player will lose their runes and progress should they be downed. You are also limited to one revive only per session and these will only trigger during Night Boss fights.

Harder Expeditions

Ironeye Hit Solo Down.png
Despite the QoL updates for Solo Expeditions in the game, players are always advised to be careful with enemies and bosses and play skillfully to win their runs.

Playing Solo does not make matches immediately easier in practice and the player is presented with their own challenges to face now that they are alone. Be ready to fight as always and remember that you must be more careful in your runs.

Altered Gameplay Experience

Solo Wylder.png
Elden Ring: Nightreign is a game designed for cooperative gameplay first rather than a single-player experience and while Solo Mode presents its own challenges and can be fun in its own way, we recommend playing online with 3 people to get the most out of the game and avoid frustrations that can be encountered in solo play.

Check our Multiplayer Board for matches if you would like to find a full party and get the Expedition going!
