Elden Ring Nightreign - Leave Penalty

Leaving a session in Elden Ring Nightreign can cause a leave penalty and a loss of progress. Learn what happens when you quit a session by choice, leave a session unexpectedly, and if there is a leave penalty for doing so.

Prevention From Finding Multiplayer Lobbies

Returning to Deskop

For the first few disconnections, leaving an ongoing session will have the game issue you a warning. However, further regular disconnections will have to get you flagged by the game and will penalize you by not allowing you to queue for several minutes.

The penalty for regular disconnections during sessions queueing and joining multiplayer sessions for several minutes, lasting for around 5 minutes for the first penalty. Getting penalized won't show a penalty application, instead, you'll be stuck in queue for several minutes lasting roughly 5 minutes for the first offense and longer for subsequent disconnections.

Multiplayer Board: Looking for Group

Penalty Applies After Multiple Disconnections

You won't immediately be penalized after a disconnection or two. The penalty will only apply after multiple disconnections, roughly around 5 disconnections. Once the penalty has been done and the player waits out the queue, another few numbers of disconnections are once again required for getting penalized once again.

Lose Levels and Runes Upon Reconnecting

If you reconnect after getting disconnected in the middle of a run, you'll be penalized with one level reduction which is similar to dying during the day. However, unlike a regular death, you won't be able to reclaim the runes you lost.

Can Reconnect if it's an Unexpected Disconnection

If you leave the game due to other causes than choosing Quit Game, you will have the choice to restore the session. Choosing to do so will bring you back to the session you last played with no penalty and choosing to decline will give you the risk of a leave penalty.

Leaving a session will not only risk you having a leave penalty but will also place all other players in the session at a disadvantage (especially if it's in the middle of a boss fight). Difficulty scaling will still automatically adjust according to the number of players in the session.

If you were disconnected unexpectedly from the session, it is best to reconnect immediately to bring the team back to its full fighting force.

Leaving a Game

Leaving can be done by selecting the options from Quit Game in the menu. If you decide to leave an ongoing expedition by using the Quit Game function in the menu, you will run the risk of incurring a leave penalty.

Quitting will have you return to the Roundtable Hold the next time you load into the game.

Leaving Due to a Disconnect

Current Session Found

You can leave an ongoing expedition through unexpected means such as a sudden crash or disconnect). If this happens, there will be a chance for you to reconnect to the session the next time you log in Elden Ring Nightreign.

  • Restoring the session will allow you to continue the expedition given that the expedition itself has not concluded.
  • Declining will have you return to the Roundtable Hold with the risk of a restriction as mentioned in the message.
  • Should you restore to a session that has already ended, you will instead also be returned to the Roundtable Hold.
