How to Get Critical Hits

Execute a Well-Timed Parry

Executing a well-timed parry will stagger enemies, opening them up for a critical hit. Take note that parry is a weapon skill usually found in small shields and medium shields.

Other Forms of Parrying

The Executor's Cursed Sword, Buckler Parry, and Golden Parry are all forms of parrying that may vary in timing but are similar in their effects. Additionally, the Parrying Dagger is the only weapon to have parry as a skill.

Stagger an Enemy

Aside from parrying, you can stagger an enemy by attacking them continuously. This will break their poise and leave them open for a critical hit.

Hit the Glowing Spot on a Staggered Boss

Whenever you stagger a boss, a glowing spot will appear. If you fail to approach this spot in time, the boss recovers and the window to perform a critical hit ends.

Backstab an Enemy

Get behind an enemy to perform a critical hit. Take note that this only works on humanoid enemies.

Effects of a Critical Hit

Deals a Huge Amount of Damage

Regardless of weapon type, critical hits will always deal a huge amount of damage. Try not to miss a critical hit when a boss is down!

Locks the Enemy in Critical Hit Animation

Enemies struck by critical hits cannot move or attack during the critical hit animation. During this time, your allies can freely hit the enemy or retreat and heal if needed.

Activates Relic Effects

Certain Relics take effect after performing a critical hit. For example, the Night of the Baron Relic fills your Art gauge after a critical hit. Try to farm for relics with similar effects if your build relies on critical hits to deal damage!
