LusatLusat's Glintstone Staff Minimum Level: 7

For the Recluse, we recommend getting the Albinauric Staff as it's a direct upgrade to the starting Recluse's Staff with the same reliable spells Glintstone Pebble and Glintstone Arc. This is your go-to staff for generic enemy encounters such as trash mobs, and for generating residue to sustain your FP with her Elemental Defense passive.

Gelmir Glintstone Staff is a priority staff upgrade as it has the Magma Shot spell which allows you to generate fire affinity which is extremely useful for creating stronger Magic Cocktail spells such as the homing fire spell.

Finally, Lusat's Glintstone Staff has the very powerful Stars of Ruin sorcery that, unlike other high-powered sorceries, has a fast casting time, making it the more reliable spell against fast bosses such as the Demi-Human Swordmaster.

Best Weapon Passives for Recluse

Best Passives for Offense
Improved Sorceries Improved Spell Casting Speed
Alternative Offense Option
Improved Charged Sorceries
Best Passives for Defense
Reduced Spell FP Cost

For Weapon Passives, prioritize those that boost the power of your Sorceries as these as your most reliable way to deal damage, whereas incantations are mostly used to generate fire, holy, or lightning affinity residues. Improved Sorceries offers a flat boost to all your sorceries, while Improved Spell Casting Speed allows you to cast faster and deal more damage.

Improved Charged Sorceries is an alternative that boosts the power of sorceries that you can hold to charge before casting. These include Shattering Crystal, Magma Shot, and Night Comet and stacks with the Godfrey Icon.

For defensive options, the best passive is any weapon or shield with Reduced Spell FP Cost which you'll equip on your offhand. Although the Recluse can regenerate her FP with Elemental Defense, cost reduction on your spells is still useful to have and allows you to cast more sorceries before recharging.

Weapon Passives Will Still Apply Even if Not Using Them

Weapon passives apply as long as the weapon is in your inventory, even if you're not actively using it. Exceptions to this rule are weapons that have a hand icon on their passives. These weapons must be equipped for the passives to take effect.

Be sure to fill your inventory with useful passives, even from random weapons you won't use, if the effect suits the build so you don't waste an inventory slot.

Alternate Recluse Relic Passives
• FP Restoration upon Successive Attacks
• Increased Maximum FP

• Increased Maximum Stamina
• Mind +3
• Vigor +3

Due to the difficulty of obtaining staves and seals in expeditions, the best relic setup has you instead improving Recluse's base stats. Try to look for relics that have Magic Attack Power Up and Mind + to increase your starting spell's power and FP gauge respectively. Relics with Intelligence + are also good to have to further increase the scaling of your starting spells.

The Bone-Like Stone is a relic that you get after you finish Chapter 6 of the Recluse's Remembrance. While the relic causes blood loss when activating Soulblood Song, it also temporarily raises your Max HP and Attack Power, allowing you burst enemies with follow-up attacks. It also grants Intelligence +3 which further increases the damage you deal with sorceries.

Vestige of Night is a relic that you'll obtain after you finish Chapter 4 of the Recluse's Remembrance Quest. Equipping this causes Terra Magica to activate on your feet when you collect affinity residue, further boosting the power of your starting sorceries.

Note: Due to relics getting random effects, it's not necessary to look for Luminous or Tranquil relics. It's possible that you'll get these desired effects from Burning or Drizzle relics!

Recluse Best Dormant Powers

FP Boosting Dormant Powers
Increased Maximum FP Reduced FP Consumption
Best Dormant Powers for Offense
Improved Sorceries and Incantations Periodical Giant Glintblade
Best Dormant Powers for Defense
Improved Dodging Increased Maximum HP
Improved Physical Damage Negation Improved Ultimate Art Gauge Charge Speed

FP-boosting Dormant Powers such as Increased Maximum FP and Reduced FP Consumption are great passives to have as it allows you to cast more sorceries or incantations before having to recharge with Elemental Defense.

For offense, Improved Sorceries and Incantations is the single best offensive Dormant Power you can get as it significantly boosts the damage you deal with your spells. Periodic Giant Glintblade is also a great pick as they are an additional source of damage and can also hit your teammates if you need to ressurect them.

For defensive options, Improved Dodging, Increased Maximum HP, and Improved Physical Damage Negation all increase her survivability against bosses. Improved Ultimate Art Gauge Charge Speed is also nice to have as it allows you to cast Soulblood Song more often, which means your teammates will deal more damage to marked enemies while also passively restoring their resources when they attack them.

Recluse Best Consumable Items

Item Effect
Starlight Shards Icon Starlight Shards Restores FP.
Cerulean Hidden Tear Icon Cerulean Hidden Tear Eliminates FP consumption for a short time.
Warming Stone Icon Warming Stone Gradual HP restoration in an area.

Starlight Shards are a great backup consumable to have in the event you run out of FP and you and your party can't generate elemental affinities that you can use to recharge with Elemental Defense. The Cerulean Hidden Tear is also great to have as it eliminates FP consumption for a short time, and is useful if you need to cast spells with high FP cost such as Comet Azur.

Finally, it's always a good idea to pick up a Warming Stone or two so that you have another way to heal in the event you run out of flasks.

Recluse Best Talismans

Talisman Effect
Graven-School Talisman Icon Graven-School Talisman Improved Sorceries (+11%)
Radagon Icon Icon Radagon Icon Improved Spell Casting Speed (+60)

The Graven-School Talisman increases the damage you inflict with your sorceries, which will be your most reliable set of spells for the duration of your run.

The Radagon Icon is another great talisman as it shortens your spell casting speed, allowing you to cast spells faster and deal more damage. It's very useful for when you have spells with long casting times such as Zamor Ice Storm and Meteorite of Astel.

Best Recluse Spells

Best Offensive Spells

Spell Effect
Glintstone Pebble Icon Glintstone Pebble A quick magical sorcery that generates magic affinity.
Stars of Ruin Icon Stars of Ruin Fires multiple homing magic projectiles that generates magic affinity.
Magma Shot Icon Magma Shot A magma sorcery that leaves a pool of magma on the ground and generates fire affinity.

The basic Glintstone Pebble which the Recluse always starts with is a reliable sorcery that has a fast cast time and deals respectable damage, and is best used against generic enemies when exploring Limveld.

Stars of Ruin is a powerful sorcery that fires multiple homing projectiles and, unlike other endgame spells, has a fast casting time which makes it one of the best spells against fast bosses such as Gnoster, Wisdom of Night.

Finally, Magma Shot allows you to generate fire affinity independent of your teammates and gives you access to more offensive magick cocktail spells.

Best Support Spells

Spell Effect
Triple Rings of Light Icon Triple Rings of Light A short-ranged miracle that shoots three rings of light in front of the caster and generates holy affinity.
Zamor Ice Storm Icon Zamor Ice Storm A sorcery that generates an ice storm around the caster that can infict frostbite.
Magic Glintblade Icon Magic Glintblade Creates a sigil that fires a glintblade after a delay.

Triple Rings of Light is mainly used to generate holy affinity which, when mixed with flame affinity allows you to cast an AOE Warmth Spell using Magic Cocktail that heals over a large area.

Zamor Ice Storm takes a long time to cast, but generates a large AOE ice storm that deals frost damage. It's useful for clearing trash mobs such as demi-humans and skeletons, as well as inflicting frostbite on large and slow bosses such as the Gaping Dragon and Smelter Demon. The spell is also great for reviving allies as it covers a wide area.

Magic Glintblade creates a sigil that, after a delay, fires a glintblade at enemies. Although the delay is very noticeable, the spell has excellent tracking and is a great spell to use against enemies that can quickly dash around the stage and would normally be tricky to hit with Glintstone Pebble such as Gladius and Heolster.

Restore FP with Elemental Defense

The Recluse can easily burn through her FP with her spells but she can restore her FP thanks to her Elemental Defense passive ability. You just need to make sure that you're constantly grabbing elemental residues from enemies during fights to keep your FP topped up.

Stick to a Few Affinity Combos for Magic Cocktail

The Recluse has a range of spells that she can use with her Magic Cocktail skill, but it's easy to get overwhelmed due to the multiple possible combinations. We recommend to memorizing and sticking to a few affinity combos for the best spell effects for your current team composition.
