We recommend fighting the Runebear at Level 6 for a standard difficulty experience. If you wish for a greater challenge, you may fight this boss at lower levels.
Don't Fight Two Runebears at Once
Near the white-furred Runebear boss, you'll find another black-furred Runebear nearby. Avoid aggroing both at once since fighting two giant bears simultaneously is incredibly difficult and inefficient. The black Runebear doesn't have its own boss healthbar but is nearly as strong.
If you accidentally aggro both Runebears, you can run far enough from the white Runebear’s spawn point to force it to despawn. This gives you a chance to reset and handle the fight more safely.
It's best to either isolate and fight the white boss Runebear and deal with them one at a time. You can also choose to avoid the black Runebear entirely.
Always Be Ready to Dodge
The Runebear is highly mobile and can cover large distances at blazing speed. Even if you think you're at a safe range, it can still lunge at you very quickly.
Always keep an eye on the Runebear, even if it’s focused on a teammate as its sudden attacks can still catch you off guard from afar.
Avoid the Grab Attack
The Runebear has a dangerous grab attack that begins with it standing on its hind legs, preparing to slam down into a bearhug. Don’t roll immediately when you see it stand since there’s a large delay before the grab lands.
Wait a second when it stands, then dodge with proper timing. You can also try to Surge Sprint away since the grab comes out slowly.
How to Unlock Runebear
Fought as a Boss in Sleep Ruins
Runebears can be found in Ruins with a Sleep symbol attached on the map. The actual boss Runebear has white fur, while there is one more non-boss Runebear with black fur in the vicinity.
