How to Revive and Rescue Allies

Attack Allies in Near-Death State

Elden Ring Nightreign Near-Death Gauge.png

When allies enter a near-death state, you have to attack allies to revive them. Depleting the gauge above them will allow them to get back into the fray and start fighting again.

Use Your Damaging Skills or Ultimates

Guardian Ultimate to Save Allies

The best method to save allies would be to use your ultimate. Ultimate abilities that can deal direct damage to enemies can also be applied to attacking allies, which can be used to help them get out of a downed state.

Use Ranged Offensive Spells

Glintstone on Duchess

A much safer method to help allies would be to use your ranged attacks or spells. These would count as an attack on your teammate to restore them to fighting condition.

What Happens if You Don't Revive Allies

Near-Death Allies Perish and Lose a Level

Allies that are in near-death state will perish when left in this state for too long. Allies that die will revive nearby but lose a level and drop runes equivalent to their current rune plus the runes required for their lost level.

Death Penalty: What Happens When You Die?

Can't Fall Lower Than 1 Level Of Your Current Level

If you're Level 5 and die, you will drop to Level 4 but die again while Level 4 won't drop you down further. However, this is the only saving grace as you will lose the runes you can get back permanently.

How to Level Up Fast

Near-Death Allies Won't Die During Night Boss and Night Lord Fights

Unlike your regular expeditions in Limveld, allies that enter the Near-Death state won't expire and die after a given time frame. This gives you a chance to revive your teammates during the battle against them.

Lose The Game if Everyone Dies During a Night Boss

When everyone enters the Near-Death state during a Night Boss or Night Lord fight, you lose the game and exit the current expedition. This is the reason that reviving allies during these crucial fights is extremely important to survive the battle.

How Does Reviving and Death Work

Allies Enter Near-Death When HP Reaches 0

Near-Death is a condition that your allies will be put on when their HP gets depleted to zero. Players in this condition will have a severe mobility restriction and become incapable of performing any action.

The condition will last a short time, and if it expires without the aid of an ally, you will die and revive in a nearby area, but lose one level upon resurrection. Take note, however, that you cannot fall farther than 1 level, (eg, if you're level 5 and died, you cannot die again to go lower than level 4).

Death Penalty Explained

Must be Attacked By Allies to Recover From Near-Death State

To recover from a Near-Death, a player must be attacked by an ally through various means. Each attack will remove a bar from the Near-Death gauge, and when all bars are removed, the ally will recover and be able to resume combat once again.

Dying Will Drop All Your Runes

Once your character dies, your current runes and all the runes needed for the levels you lost will be dropped at the same location you died on. You can return to that area to retrieve the lost runes, but dying before retrieving the runes will cause them to disappear permanently.

Each Death Increases the Near-Death Gauge's Size

Near Death Gauge
Every death that a player experiences on that current day will increase the Near-Death gauge's size. This means that an ally will be harder to revive and will require more ally hits to get back into the fray.

Resets at the end of the Current Day

The Near-Death gauge's size will reset at the end of the current day cycle. You'll have to complete the current day and defeat that day's mini-boss to recover your original Near-Death gauge size.
