The resistance effects of Boluses are permanent for a whole expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign. Learn about what Boluses do, the effects of all Boluses, and how they cure status effects and improve your resistance to them.

Are Boluses Permanent?

Permanent for the Whole Expedition

Consuming a Bolus

Boluses' resistance effects are permanent for a whole expedition (it even does not go away on death). However, its status cure effect is temporary on consumption. If you are not saving boluses to cure yourself from a specific status, it's best to consume them immediately.

Most enemies you fight that have attacks that apply status will sometimes have cures near them, such as minions dropping Rejuvinating Boluses when you fight a Wormface as a night boss, or other mobs dropping Neutralizing Boluses when you fight in a poison-infested Ruins.

Best to Consume Immediately if Not Saving for Buildups

Uses items directly on the ground without picking them up. Make sure you are on top of the item with the prompt showing.

Given that you have limited space for consumable types on each run, Boluses are best consumed immediately if you do not need its temporary effects. Save them if you're dealing with fights that build up status effects fast.

Increases Resistance, Cures Status, and Recovers HP

Preserving Boluses

Boluses are consumable items that cure a specific status and permanently increases your resistance to that status for the duration of the expedition. The resistance increase stacks for every bolus of its type consumed, so it's a good idea to consume as much as you can when you come across one.

On consuming boluses, they also give temporary HP recovery, making them useful for getting back some health and even mitigating the impact of damage over time attacks.

Preserving BolusesPreserving Boluses Alleviates scarlet rot buildup and cures rot ailment. Also boosts resistance and gradually restores HP.
Thawfrost BolusesThawfrost Boluses Alleviates poison buildup of frost and cures frostbite ailment. Also boosts resistance and gradually restores HP.
Stimulating BolusesStimulating Boluses Alleviates buildup of sleep. Also boosts resistances and gradually restores HP.
Clarfiying BolusesClarifying Boluses Alleviates madness buildup. Also boosts resistance and gradually restores HP.
Rejuvinating BolusesRejuvinating Boluses Alleviates death blight buildup. Also boosts resistance and gradually restores HP.

Boluses are common drops from crates and sometimes from chests. Matching Boluses can also drop from enemies by chance if the enemies are related to applying a status effect.
