Elden Ring Nightreign

Fissure in the Fog (Caligo, Miasma of Night) Weakness and How to Beat

Add to Watchlist

Elden Ring Nightreign Caligo Miasma of Night
Caligo, Miasma of Night, also known as Fissure in the Fog, is a boss in Elden Ring Nightreign. Learn how to unlock and defeat Caligo, Miasma of Night, as well as best combat tips and weaknesses for Caligo, Miasma of Night.

Caligo, Miasma of Night Weakness

Weak Against Fire

Elden Ring Nightreign Caligo Fire Weakness

Fire damage is effective against Caligo. Inflicting enough Fire damage on Caligo lowers both its attack and defense for some time, letting you deal more damage and receive less.

With that in mind, look for Fire-based weapons on the days before fighting Caligo. You can also stock up on Fire Grease and Fire Pot in case you don't have other options to use.

Combat Tips for Caligo, Miasma of Night

How to Beat Caligo, Miasma of Night

Recommended Level for Caligo, Miasma of Night

Recommended Level Level 12

We recommend fighting Caligo, Miasma of Night at Level 12 for a standard difficulty experience. If you wish for a greater challenge, you may fight this boss at lower levels.

Fire Damage Lowers Caligo's Defenses

Try find armaments and items that deal Fire damage. This makes the fight much easier since it lowers both Caligo's attack and defense making you deal more damage while receiving less in return.

The debuff is applied when you deal enough Fire damage against Caligo so it's best if everyone in the party has options to deal Fire damage.

Safest Spot to Attack is Under the Boss

When fighting Caligo, the best spot to attack would be directly under the boss close to the hind legs. In this spot, you'll be safe from all of the long range attacks while being able to attack freely.

Just be sure to get out when Caligo starts breathing frost on the ground directly under and dodge the swipe attacks. The hind legs are an easy target to deal damage to Caligo.

Close the Distance When Caligo Jumps Away

Caligo tends to jump away when you're close to use breath and tail attacks from a distance. Try to close the distance quickly so you can get back to the safe spot. The Wylder's Claw Shot works really well to gap close so may want to use him.

You should also remember to strafe to the left as you approach Caligo to avoid getting hit by the wide area breath attack that hits the right side first before going left.

Avoid Ice Crystals on the Ground

Ice crystals that cause Frostbite will appear wherever Caligo exhales its breath. Avoid these spikes to prevent taking damage and getting inflicted with Frostbite.

Find Cover When Caligo Releases Fog

Elden Ring Nightreign Caligo Find Cover

At a certain point, Caligo will fly into the air and cover the area in fog. One of two attacks will then follow: either Caligo releases a freezing mist that causes Frostbite, or a rain of ice from above.

If it’s the former, you'll see black smoke indicating where Caligo will release the freezing mist. Immediately try to look for ice pillars to use as cover from the breath attack.

If it's the latter, you'll hear a cracking sound, which is your cue to quickly run close to Caligo or run far away from the direction you last saw the boss. If you're using Wylder, use Claw Shot to zip your way to the boss or away.

Dodge Sideways to Avoid Ice Barrage

Once Caligo's HP gets low enough, the boss enters the 2nd phase and starts flying to fire off blocks of ice in its path. This dive attack happens twice everytime Caligo flies.

When you see Caligo preparing to take off, do your best to run towards Caligo's direction to get under and behind the first dive and completely avoid it. For the second dive, dodge sideways to get out of the way.

Obtain the Power from The Mountaintop

Favor of the Mountaintop is the power you obtain from reaching the blue crystal in The Mountaintop Shifting Earth event. It halves frostbite damage and frost buildup while increasing your attack when enemies are frostbitten, all perfect against bonuses when fighting Caligo.

You can also defeat the Flying Dragon in the same event to earn the Attack Boost [Dragons] Dormant Power, which increases your damage against dragons—including Caligo.

The Mountaintop Shifting Earth event is only unlocked after you beat at least 3 Nightlords, so you can fight Caligo when it's available if you want the best chances.
