How to Get Ballistas
Looted from Bow Racks in Encampments
Ballistas can be looted from bow racks scattered around Main Encampment POIs. These same racks can also have a chance to spawn in the small, unmarked enemy encampments that you drop at when first starting an expedition.
Press Y (Xbox), Triangle (PS5), or V (PC) to Find Bow Racks on the Map

To easily find POIs with Bow Racks, open your map and press Y (Xbox), Triangle (PS5), or V (PC) to switch over to the detailed map view. In this mode, your map will show you which POIs will net you ballistas, staves, sacred seals, flasks, and map clues.
Can be Looted from Ruined Towers
The unmarked, ruined towers that dot the landscape of Limveld will usually have one bow rack that you can loot for a potential ballista, greatbow, bow, or crossbow.
If you're playing as Ironeye, these are great mini detours you can take if you want a quick upgrade from your starting weapon (especially since these are usually found near starting spawn locations).
What are Ballistas?
Ranged Weapons with High Power and Low Mobility
Ballistas have higher Attack Power than Bows, Greatbows, and Crossbows, with significantly slower reloading speed and high positional requirements. This makes them ideal as support weapons from the backline due to their siege-like style and ability to deal high damage to large enemies or groups.
In Nightreign, weapons don't have stat requirements. Unlike in the original game, all Nightfarers will be able to use all weapons found during a match.
Best for a Support Approach
Ballistas deal higher damage compared to Bows, Greatbows, and Crossbows, but require good positioning due to their slow reload time. To maximize Ballistas, use them when teaming with tanks such as Raiders or Guardians.
