Maris, Fathom of Night, also known as Augur, is a boss in Elden Ring Nightreign. Learn how to unlock and defeat Augur and its Everdark Sovereign version, as well as best combat tips, weaknesses, and how to counter Augur's Sleep attacks.
Augur Weakness
Weak to Lightning Damage
Maris, Fathom of Night, is weak to Lightning damage. Overwhelming him with Lightning attacks causes the boss to get staggered, giving you a window to inflict critical damage and land some additional hits.
Make sure to look for Lightning-based weapons, and stock up on Lightning Grease and Lightning Pot to help you in your fight against the boss.
Everdark Sovereign Version New Mechanics
As with the other Everdark Sovereigns, Augur is expected to be a more challenging boss fight with new mechanics.

We recommend fighting Augur at Level 12 for a standard difficulty experience. If you wish for a greater challenge, you may fight this boss at lower levels.
Use Ironeye for Ranged Attacks
Maris, Fathom of Night, constantly floats and moves around the battlefield, making melee combat a bit challenging. We recommend using Ironeye (or maybe even three Ironeyes) for this Expedition to deal damage from a distance.

Get All Resistances Up Dormant Power
At a certain point, Maris, Fathom of Night, can cast spells that puts players to Sleep. To counter this, try to obtain the All Resistances Up Dormant Power, which raises resistance to all ailments like Sleep. All Resistances Up can be obtained after defeating a Night Boss.
Use Ultimate Arts to Stop Augur's Sleep Attack
As mentioned, Maris, Fathom of Night, can inflict Sleep with a move where the boss curls into a ball and charges up for an explosion. Interrupt this by using your Ultimate Arts at Maris. With that said, everyone should always save their Ultimate Arts for this move.
Avoid the Tentacles
Maris, Fathom of Night, will later summon tentacles that attack nearby players. Stay aware of your surroundings while attacking the boss to avoid getting hit by them.
Run Away Before Augur Hits the Ground
Maris, Fathom of Night, can drop from the sky, causing a massive explosion that inflicts Sleep on players. You can either stop the explosion by shooting Maris before they land or simply run away to avoid the blast.
Dodge During AoE Attacks
Maris, Fathom of Night, also sends out jellyfish that explode on contact and performs a spinning attack. When Maris slams the ground, a damaging gust of air will hit nearby players. Dodge and avoid the jellyfish during these phases.
Augur Raid Guide
Enter the Bubble to Fight Augur
To locate the Augur Raid, simply head inside for the gigantic sphere that appears in the area. The fight with the Augur won't be much different from the actual Night Lord save for having fewer attack patterns and significantly lesser power, making it easy to beat at a lower level.
Defeating this Augur rewards the Undying Fate passive.

How to Unlock Augur
Unlocked After Beating Gladius
Maris, Fathom of Night, is unlocked by defeating Gladius in an Expedition. Maris is one of the several Nightlords that become available for Expeditions afterward.
As a Nightlord, Maris is fought on the third day of the Augur Expedition.
