☆ How to Unlock Forsaken Hollows DLC

Poise is a hidden stat that determines a character's stagger resistance in Elden Ring Nightreign. Read on to know what poise is, what it does, and the ways to break and increase it.

Poise determines how resistant a target is to being staggered and interrupted. Armor is the primary determinant in knowing how much poise a character has.
Poise acts like a health bar that reduces whenever a character takes damage, but it quickly regains if the character stops receiving damage. If a character's poise is reduced to 0, it will result in a stagger.
Poise also determines if an attack will be interrupted during its animation. Having more poise will allow an attack to continue its animation even if the attacker gets hit.
Some weapon skills have hyper armor when casted, making it uninterruptible. An example of this would be Stamp (Sweep) and Stamp (Upward Cut).
Parrying enemy attacks will reduce an enemy's poise. Parrying an attack from a weaker enemy instantly breaks their poise and results in a stagger, opening them up for a critical hit.
Regular attacks also reduce poise, albeit in a slower manner than parrying. This requires you to continuously attack an enemy before their poise regains.
Increase your poise damage by attacking with heavy weapons. These weapons include Colossal Weapons, Colossal Swords, Greataxes, and the like.
Use heavy attacks while two-handing to further boost your poise damage.
Skills that have high poise damage include Wylder's Onslaught Stake and weapon skills such as Lion's Claw, Giant Hunt, and Stamp (Upward Cut) to name a few.
Guard counters do massive poise damage when performed. Guard counters can be done by doing a heavy attack after guarding with a shield or while two-handing a weapon.
Black Claw Necklace is a Relic that increases your poise by 3. This can be unlocked by completing chapter 7 of Raider's Remembrance quest.
How to Get Black Claw Necklace
Ironjar Aromatic and Leaden Hardtear are both consumable items that increase your character's poise.
