Nightreign Does Have a Story

Elden Ring Nightreign does have a story that consists of multiple cutscenes. One is the opening cutscene that you get from the start of the game, while two others can be accessed by defeating your first and fourth Nightlord.

Lastly, you can get the final cutscene of the main story by defeating Heolster the Nightlord.

There is also an additional end credit cutscene if you defeat Heolster the Nightlord using a character with a completed Remembrance.

Nightreign Story Explained

The main story of Elden Ring Nightreign revolves around hunting Nightlords to end the night cycle and stop them from tainting the Lands Between. The story takes places in a parallel timeline after the events of the Shattering where you start as the Wylder who has just entered Limveld.

After the Shattering, it drew forth the Nightlord where it started the night cycle and threatened to wipe out the history of the Lands Between. Due to this, various characters from different eras have been brought together to defeat the Nightlord and end the night cycle.

Each character in Elden Ring Nightreign has a backstory that consists of Remembrances. These Remembrances help expand the lore and understanding of what is happening within the game by revealing new chapters as you progress.

Keep in mind that Wylder and Ironeye have Remembrances that can influence your ending of the game.
