This is a guide to upgrading your weapons and armaments in Elden Ring Nightreign. Learn how to upgrade your equipment and the best method to get smithing stones for upgrading your weapons.

How to Upgrade Your Weapons

Upgrade on Smithing Tables

Smithing Tables are the main location where you can upgrade your weapons. These locations can be found near merchant's locations where you can purchase items as well for runes.

Requires a Smithing Stone

Smithing Stones are the primary resource required to upgrade your weapons on smithing tables.

Each Smithing Stone Level Upgrades a Weapon's Rarity

Smithing Stone 1Smithing Stone [1] Common to Uncommon
Smithing Stone 2Smithing Stone [2] Uncommon to Rare

To upgrade a weapon, you'll require a single piece of that smithing stone to upgrade a weapon's level. This will also increase the weapon's rarity which will improve the weapon's damage output and scaling.

Use the Crater Shifting Event's Secret

The Crater is the first Shifting Event you can unlock in the game. Reaching the bottom most part of the crater and besting the Magma Wyrm will allow you to upgrade a weapon straight to the legendary rarity regardless of its current rarity.

How to Get Smithing Stones

Obtain Them On Tunnels

Smithing Stones can be primarily obtained by searching tunnel areas. Tunnels are extremely narrow and can be dangerous if bosses are found in the area so enter these areas with caution.

There are multiple ways to obtain Smithing Stones on Tunnels such as picking them up as regular loots as well as a drop from the boss in the area.

Purchasable From Merchants

Bought from the Merchant at the Spirit Shelter.png

You can often find merchants on the map. These merchants can be found selling smithing stones so be sure to take a look at their wares if you find one on the map for a chance of obtaining ways to upgrade your weapons.
