Deep of Night Explained
A Higher Difficulty Expedition Mode
The Deep of Night expedition mode will feature a higher difficulty expedition that contains stronger enemies with the difficulty increasing more and more as you progress each Depth.
Features a Progressing Depth System
The Deep of Night features a progressing "Depth" system that will likely feature a boss at the end of each run. It was also mentioned that wins and losses will affect each Depth, making each run unique.
Based on available information, the last default Depth level looks to be Depth 3.
Endless Battle Mentioned
Depths 4 and 5 are mentioned to feature an endless battle mode. While details are still scarce, this could indicate that this mode will keep on going as long as you stay alive.
No Nightlord Selection
When doing an expedition in this mode, you will not be able to select a Nightlord to defeat. It is still unknown whether this mode will feature existing Nightlords or new ones.
Nightlord Bosses Ranked by Difficulty: Easiest Bosses
Includes Exclusive Items and Weapons
This mode will feature exclusive relics called "Depth Relics". This may indicate that the relics obtained after a run will have special attributes that will only be useable in the Deep of Night mode.
Furthermore, the items and weapons that you pick up may have exclusive effects and attributes that are different from the ones that you can find in a normal run.
Ongoing Terrain Changes Will Not Affect Deep of Night
While it was not directly mentioned in the press release, the "ongoing terrain changes" may refer to Shifting Earth events. This can mean that the Shifting Earth mechanic will not affect the state of Limveld while in Deep of Night.
Whether this mode will have its own version of shifting earth is still unknown.
