Description
Create a ball of lightning that, upon being struck, chains lightning to other nearby enemies.

Details and Use Cases

Recommended Use
- Bursts are emitted as soon as the ball is struck by Clive or an enemy.
- Clive can follow up Lightning Rod with a Magic Burst to strike the ball immediately after executing Lightning Rod.
- However, lightning emitted due to an enemy striking the ball is more potent than that caused by Clive's strikes.
- Taunt can be used to lure enemies into a attacking the ball.
- Pressing the execute button after placing the ball will cause the ball to move to Clive's new position.

Unlock Ramuh During Cid the Outlaw

Lightning Rod is unlocked by gaining the power of Ramuh during the quest, Cid the Outlaw. You may need to complete or encounter a certain story section in order to unlock this ability.

How to Use Lightning Rod

Release Lightning Rods and Attack Them

The Lightning Rods you create by using this ability can be attacked to discharge lightning in a small radius. This can be triggered even by the enemies, which you can also force by using Taunt.

Attack the orbs as much as you can to maximize the damage dealt by this skill.

Clive can learn and upgrade Abilities by spending Ability Points (AP) obtained through enemy combat and through completion of Main Quests, Side Quests, or even Hunt Board Quests.

Unlock Road to Redemption Trophy Achievement

Road to Redemption Bronze Trophy
FF16 - Silver Trophy Lure an enemy into striking a Lightning Rod 3 times before it dissipates (excluding battles in Hall of Virtue).

Having enemies attack the lightning orb created by Lightning Rod will also create a discharge. Standing near the orb increases the chance of enemies triggering the discharge themselves.

Successfully drawing attacks into the Lightning Rod three times before it disappears will unlock the Road to Redemption trophy achievement. It is recommended to keep using Taunt while the Lightning Rod is active to get this achievement easily.
