☆ How to Unlock Forsaken Hollows DLC

Stonesword Keys are found in Great Churches, Forts, and in buried treasure in Elden Ring Nightreign. Read on and check out the methods on how to get the Stonesword Key, how to use it, and additional info in this guide!
List of Contents
| Obtain Method | Probability |
|---|---|
| Great Churches and Forts | High |
| Buried Treasure | High |
| Township Merchants | Guaranteed (6,000 Runes) |
| Grand Burning Scene Relic | Immediate Unlock |
| Breakable Boxes | Very Low |

The easiest way to get a Stonesword Key is to make a stop at a Fort or Great Church as soon as you enter Limveld on Day 1. While the locations and layouts may vary, all Great Churches and Forts will have a specific chest that has a high chance to drop Stonesword Keys.
Look for the textured chest (not the one that looks like a Mimic from Dark Souls) and open it. More often than not, this chest will drop a Stonesword Key that you and your team can use to open Evergaols.

Buried Treasure is another way you can get Stonesword Keys since these special chests have a high chance of dropping rare items and weapons when opened. To reveal them on your map, visit Forts and interact with the map inside the tallest tower of the fort.
Note: Despite the name, Buried Treasures are not actually buried. They simply look like chests sitting out in the open (no digging required).

Alternatively, you can try checking if your map has a Township - a POI where a special Merchant spawns. These Township Merchants sell a variety of high-value items like Talismans, Smithing Stone 2s, and Stonesword Keys.

If you're one of the players who has already beaten Heolstor the Nightlord, then you can visit the Small Jar Bazaar at the Roundtable Hold and purchase the newly unlocked Grand Burning Scene for 1000 Murk.
Despite being a non-unique relic, this particular one will grant you a host of buffs, one of which is being able to start any expedition with a Stonesword Key already in your inventory.

Given the loot system of Nightreign, it is also possible to obtain a Stonesword Key drop from breakable boxes scattered throughout each point-of-interest (POI) on the map. However, do note that it has a very low chance of dropping, so you're better off trying the earlier methods listed since they get better results.

Stonesword Keys are used to open Evergaols in order to challenge the boss inside. If you have a Stonesword Key in your inventory, simply interact with the Imp Statue next to the Evergaol to open it and free the boss.
Evergaol bosses are unique in that they offer an alternate reward called Runes of the Strong which give you a ton of runes when chosen.
