From Whence Life Flows Walkthrough and Rewards

From Whence Life Flows is a Side Quest that can be unlocked during Chapter 10 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth). Read on to learn more about how to unlock From Whence Life Flows, how to complete it, as well as the location of all lifespring survey stations and the available rewards for completing the side quest.

How to Unlock From Whence Life Flows

Progress Through Story in Chapter 10

The From Whence Life Flows side quest is unlocked after advancing through Chapter 10: Watcher of the Vale and completing the Uninvited Guests main scenario. In order to reach this part, you must complete Red XIII's trials and defeat the boss Gi Nattak. You will then return to Cosmo Canyon, where the quest unlocks.

There will be a total of 5 Lifespring Survey Stations in Cosmo Canyon. Only after finding each will Bugenhagen give you the map for the next one. Before doing this quest, however, it's important that you have the Cosmo Canyon Chocobo to glide across the wide canyon.

Take note that these lifesprings are for this quest only and are not included in the Lifespring Intel for Chadley.

All Lifespring Locations (Expedition Intel)

Lifespring Survey Station 1

The first Lifespring Survey Station west of the Cosmo Canyon Region.

If it's your first time going there, go to Kamaria's Ranch, go to the Gliding Range nearby, and use your Chocobo to glide down the desert. Head west until you see a wooden gate. If you have explored the desert before doing this quest, fast travel to the Dried Oasis Tower to get the location faster.

Lifespring Survey Station 2 and 3

The next two Lifespring Survey Stations are close to each other, located south of Kamaria's Ranch.

From the first station, head west of the map. The next station is located by the Gliding Range nearby. It will be surrounded by fiends, so defeat them to get inside the gate.

From that location, head southeast, then go up the ruins to get to the last station marked on Bugenhagen's map. Again, you will find the gate with fiends trying to destroy the gate, so clear them out to get to the lifespring and measure its mako frequency.

Lifespring Survey Station 4

For this Lifespring Survey Station, Bugenhagen's map will have north pointing downward. The exact location of this survey station will be at the northeast of the Gliding Range Tower. Once you get there, clear the location from the fiends that are trying to destroy the gate.

Lifespring Survey Station 5

The last location requires you use the Gliding Ranges southeast of the map.

The order of the Gliding Ranges to use is as follows:

1. Gliding Range No. 6 - 61 m
2. Gliding Range No. 7 - 78 m
3. Gliding Range No. 13 - 88 m - after landing from the previous point, go right up the wooden stairs to reach this gliding range
4. Gliding Range No. 14 - 90 m

After the last Gliding Range, just follow the path towards the Lifespring Survey Station gate. Measure the mako frequency of this station to take on the final enemies for this side quest, 3 Threadspinner Chimeras.

How to Complete From Whence Life Flows

1. Look for Bugenhagen.
2. Measure the Mako Frequencies.
3. Talk to Bugenhagen.

Look for Bugenhagen

Look for Fellow Bugenhangen in Cosmo Canyon. To find him, fast travel to the Cosmo Observatory and you will find him by the bookshelves.

Measure the Mako Frequencies

Help Bugenhagen ease his troubles by measuring the mako frequencies in all 5 lifespring survey stations in Cosmo Canyon. Bugenhagen will give maps to these locations and it's up to Cloud and Red XIII to find them!

Defeat the Threadspinner Chimeras in the Fifth Lifespring Location

The fifth survey station will spawn 3 Threadspinner Chimeras. To defeat them, make sure you have an Ice materia equipped to exploit their weakness as much as possible. Be careful of the spider silk they use, as this will ensnare your party, rendering them unable to fight!

Talk to Bugenhagen

After taking out the fiends, you can now talk to Bugenhagen and ask anything about the Weapons or the lifesprings themselves. Afterwards, he will inform the party that the survey team reported sightings of Gi spirits within the vale, which will unlock the side quest, Promises to Keep.

Increase Favorability With Red XIII

Completing From Whence Life Flows will also increase your friendship with Red XIII. This will affect the events that will occur when you visit the Gold Saucer later in the game.

While playing in Hard Mode, completing this side quest will reward you the Tale of the Red Warrior Vol. XII for Red XIII. You can access Hard Mode after completing your first playthrough of the game in any difficulty.
