Summoning Step-By-Step Guide |
---|
1. Stagger Your Enemy to Awaken the Summon 2. Spend ATB Charges to Call the Summon to the Field 3. Auto-Cast Ultimate Attacks as the Summon Leaves |
Before you can call forth your Summon, you must first proc the Summon Gauge. To get it to appear, you will need to stagger your enemy once. After getting staggered, a purple Summon Gauge should appear above your HP and ATB display (bottom right).
Now, all that's left is to wait for the Summon Gauge to fill up. Unfortunately, there is no way to speed this up aside from continuing the battle. This means that while possible, only tanky enemies or bosses will ever give you enough time to use a Summon.
How to Pressure and Stagger Enemies
Once the Summon Gauge is full, you'll need to spend an ATB Charge in order to call forth the Summon. In FF7 Rebirth, the cost for summoning will very depending on the size of the Summon.
Medium Summons like Phoenixm Ramuh, and Titan will only need 1 ATB charge to summon, while large summons like Alexander will require you to spend 2 full ATB charges.
ATB Guide: How to Fill the ATB Gauge
Once your Summon is on the field, you can use their special abilities by spending ATB charges. The use of a Summon's abilities is not restricted to the Summoner. Other characters on the field can use the Summon's abilities so long as they have enough ATB charges.
Once the Summon Gauge is empty, your Summon will leave the field. However, before it does so, it will cast its Ultimate Attack. Each Summon will have their own unique Ultimate, each with its own damage type.
Note: If the character who used the Summon Materia falls in battle, the Summon will automatically leave regardless of how much time is left on the Summon Gauge. However, they do still cast their Ultimate before leaving the field.
Summoning Materia have Red colored orbs. These Materia allow you to invoke summons by filling the Summon Gauge that only appears when fighting bosses or mini-bosses.
While summons function as allies in battle, they do not permanently stay with you during these encounters. After a summon, the summon gauge will slowly deplete and once the gauge is over, the summoned entity will unleash their ultimate attack before disappearing from that battle.
Unlike companions, you also cannot take control of summons and must rely on their AI to make decision in battle or by giving them command during battle. This is the maximum control that you have over summons but controlling them as your main character is not doable.
