List of Contents
To find Piko, simply follow the path south of Bill's Ranch. Catching Piko is part of the main scenario of Chapter 2, so there's no need to worry about losing him if you don't find him immediately.
As mentioned, catching Piko is one of the main scenarios of Chapter 2. This means that Piko and the minigame won't appear unless you receive the request from Bill as you progress through the chapter.
After receiving the request, you can reach Piko's location by simply following the footprints as you head south. If you get lost, you can return to the ranch and retrace your steps, as the footprints always start from there.
Since this is a Chocobo Intel, you can always retry if you fail to catch Piko on your first attempts. If you scare Piko away, simply press the △ button to try again. From here, you can either start from a checkpoint or from the very start of the minigame.
The first step you need to take to capture Piko is to move to the patch of grass next to the first Chocobo. Make sure to quietly approach the grass to avoid alerting the nearby Chocobo. Failing to do so will cause all Chocobos, including Piko at the far back, to run away, ending the minigame.
After moving to the patch of grass, sneak behind the Chocobo to reach the next one. This Chocobo will always face right, so you don't have to worry too much about distracting it.
If you do find yourself caught, simply return to any patch of grass to hide again. The alerted Chocobo will keep its eyes on you, so make sure to break the line of sight by hiding. Failing to do so will result in the end of the minigame.
Before moving onto the next patch of grass, make sure to wait for the next Chocobo to turn around first before advancing. Unlike the first one, this Chocobo doesn't have a fixed direction it faces, so observe its movements first before proceeding
After reaching the next patch of grass, be sure to pick up all the stones you can find before proceeding to the next step. This ensures that you have enough stones to retry in case you throw one incorrectly.
Distract Piko by throwing one of the stones you collected. Make sure to aim behind Piko to force him to turn around completely. Otherwise, Piko will spot you, and unlike the other Chocobo, Piko will run away quicker.
After distracting Piko, quietly approach him and get close enough until you are prompted to press △. End the minigame by pressing △ and take Piko back to the ranch after capturing him.
Make sure to wait for Piko to turn around before moving forward. Approaching him immediately after throwing will cancel the distraction, potentially ending the minigame if you're not careful.
As you progress through Chapter 2, you will receive the Chocobo Whistle, which allows you to call Piko anytime. Simply press R1 to summon Piko anywhere in the Grassland region
