Pirate King's Treasure Guide: All Pirate Relic Locations

This is a guide to locate all the Pirate Relics that can be found in the Pirate King's Treasure Guide in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth). Read on to learn more about the locations of the relics, how to get there, and the enemies that can be found and battled!

Pirate Relic Locations

Four Pirate King's Relics
Pirate Relic α (Alpha) Pirate Relic β (Beta)
Pirate Relic γ (Gamma) Pirate Relic δ (Delta)

Each of the locations marked for the Pirate King's Grottos have their own powerful monsters guarding the Pirate Relic. Be sure to prepare accordingly before heading out to each one.

The first Pirate King's Grotto can be found southeast of Gongaga Harbor.

Ogre Raider Weakness

Elemental Weakness
Ice
Enrage Condition
Inflicting enough damage by exploiting its elemental weakness will pressure it. As the battle progresses, it will grow incensed. Its power intensifies with each roar it emits, reaching its apex after the third.

Make sure to come into this battle equipped with various Ice Materia before fighting the Ogre Raider.

The next Grotto for Pirate Relic β can be found in a cave southeast of the port in Underjunon.

Brineborn Demon Weakness

Fire
Counterstance Condition
It will become pressured when it assumes a Counterstance. After a certain amount of time passes, it will unleash Graviga on the party and revert to its normal stance. Staggering it while in its Counterstance will prevent it from using Graviga.

Once the Brineborn Demon goes into its Counterstance, burst it down with fire-type attacks. Your team should be equipped with Fire Materia for this enemy.

Hueyacoatl Weakness

Enrage Condition
Alternates between a Low Voltage state and a Supercharged state in which it continually emits electricity. Attacking it while it is Supercharged will cause it to unleash a paralyzing bolt of lightning, but also pressure it. Exploiting its weakness with a strong wind.

Have wind materia equipped, and attack the Brineborn Demon with mostly wind attribute attacks.

Tifa is the MVP for this boss fight due to her ability to fight while airborne, and an increased burst damage multiplier. with the help of Sylph Gloves and its Reverse Gale ability.

Sea Dragon Weakness

Lightning
Enrage Condition
When enveloped in its Galvanizing Flames, it will unleash powerful, fiery counterattacks. Poisoning it will quench its flames and pressure it. Only lightning-aspected attacks will fill the stagger gauge.

Poison Materia and Lightning Materia are crucial in dealing with the Sea Dragon.

First, poison the Sea Dragon as soon as it uses its Galvanizing Flames. Once it is pressured, bombard it with various lightning attacks to stagger it down. Repeat the process until it is finally slain.

Pirate Relic Rewards

Complete All 4 to Craft Corsair's Compass

FF7 Rebirth - Corsair

Effect of Pirate King's Compass
Partitions the ATB gauge into 3 segments for a short period after using 5 types of commands.

Having all four Pirate Relics allows the player to unlock craft a new accessory called Corsair's Compass.

Corsair's Compass Shows Direction to Special Treasure

Having the Corsair's Compass in your inventory while sailing in the Middle Ocean will show a compass on the interface, directing you to places where the crafting material Pirate King's Scraps can be picked up.

Red XIII Hints For Pirate King's Scraps

FF7 Rebirth - Red XIII hints at Pirate King

After crafting the Corsair's Compass, Red XIII hints in the cutscene afterwards that with that on hand, it can lead to some "amazing treasure."

This might mean that the Pirate King's Scraps collected in the sea while having the Compass equipped could be used to craft something in the future.

What Are Pirate Relics?

Crafting Materials to Make Accessories

FF7 Rebirth - Crafting the Corsair

The four Pirate Relics (α, β, γ, δ) are materials needed to craft the accessory Corsair's Compass. Clearing the Pirate King's Grottos is the only way to obtain these materials.

Extra Story in Chapter 12

FF7 Rebirth - Pirate Relics is Optional
After the start of Chapter 12, this is an Extra Story which becomes available once you can explore the Middle Ocean with Tiny Bronco. This is not involved into FF7 Rebirth's Main Story, so this can be a nice change of pace.
