You can increase Cloud's friendship level with Aerith by choosing the best dialogue options on certain points of the story.

Answering with the most positive reply significantly increases their friendship level while a bad reply decreases it.

Chapter 2 (Kalm Village)

The dialogue options will become available once you are able to roam around Kalm Village.

Chapter 4 (Sea Dragon Square)

During Chapter 4 in Sea Dragon Square, Aerith will be located inside her room at the Inn.

The dialogue options will become available at the inn after defeating the Terror of the Deep.

Approach the easternmost house to find Aerith at the end of the path. A cutscene will play just before the dialogue choices.

The dialogue choices in Chapter 9 appear once you enter the village for the first time after the cutscenes with Cissnei.

Make sure to talk to everyone first before speaking with Aerith. You will receive a "Ceremony preparations are underway." if you talk to her first before talking to all of the party members.

The dialogue choices in Chapter 10 appear during the bonfire ceremony. All party members are gathered together in one area.

Find Aerith near the watertower in the middle of the town. Follow her up the tower to initiate the dialogue choice sequence. You can talk to her again for an extra cutscene.

The dialogue choices in Chapter 11 appear once you arrive in Nibelheim.

Before the Grasptropod boss fight, you have the option to choose to help either Aerith and Barrett or Tifa and Red XIII. Choosing to help the pair of party members will increase their affection with the corresponding character.

Use Synergy Skills with Cloud and Aerith

Using a Synergy Skill for the first time with Aerith and Cloud also give a small boost to her friendship level. Subsequent uses of the same Synergy Skill won't have anymore effect.

On your first visit to the Gold Saucer in Chapter 8, you'll be accompanied by Aerith if you have the highest relationship level with her at that point in the story. Your romance choices after Chapter 8 can result in a different partner appearing on the date in Chapter 12.

The second Gold Saucer date that happens at Chapter 12 can also be with Aerith if you still have the highest relationship level with her.

As there is an Intimate Scene and a Standard Scene for each character, try to raise the relationship level with Aerith as high as you can to view the Intimate Scene.
