EXP Farming Guide - How to Level Up Fast

FF7 Rebirth - EXP Farming Guide - How to Level Up Fast
This is a guide to leveling and level grinding for both early to mid-game and post-game in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth). Learn how to level up fast, and see all the EXP farming methods and information about the leveling system here.

How to Level Up Fast (Early to Mid-Game)

Set Your Difficulty to Easy

FF7 Rebirth - EXP Farming Guide - Change to Easy
For level grinding, set the difficulty to Easy as it allows you to take down enemies and earn EXP at a much faster rate. You can adjust the difficulty by simply accessing the Gameplay Settings in the System Menu.

Since both Easy and Normal difficulties give the same amount of EXP, it would be best to just go with Easy mode to speed things up.

Set Difficulty to Dynamic when Fighting Lower-Level Enemies

If you've opted to skip the side quests in the prior regions, especially the early ones like the Grasslands and Junon, then it would be wise to set your difficulty to Dynamic to gain more EXP and Gil. Dynamic Difficulty will cause enemies to adjust to match your level, and the EXP and Gil they provide will also adjust accordingly; however, note that AP yield will not change regardless of the difficulty setting.

Seek Out Combat Assignments and Other Content

FF7 Rebirth - World Intel

FF7 Rebirth presents a lot of content besides the story, which yield considerable amounts of EXP. Battle minigames such as the Musclehead Colosseum and Combat Assignments also give off large amounts of EXP.

It's recommended that you play through this content as well as side quests instead of farming the same enemies in one area. During these quests, ytou can take down any mob of enemies you come across for additional EXP.

Complete Side Quests

Another way to level up quickly is to complete Side Quests as you can find a ton of them throughout FF7 Rebirth. This gives you plenty of EXP before taking on the Main Story.

Best Side Quests to Complete Early in the Game

Best Side Quests to Do

How to Level Up Fast (Late Game)

The following points are to be done before reaching Chapter 13, which is the game's point of no return.

Redo All Battle Minigames

FF7 Rebirth - Beast Battleground Minigame

All of FF7 Rebirth's battle minigames can be done over and over again, though the rewards after the first completion will only be grab bags that give off random items.

Additionally, upon reaching and completing Chapter 12, they will most likely have advanced stages, which will yield more EXP than their easy challenges. Before engaging in the final chapter, it would be wise to spend time on these minigames.

Musclehead Colosseum Beast Battleground

Redo All Combat Assignments

FF17 Rebirth - Nibel Combat Assignment

Retrying Combat Assignments is a good farming choice since they are much more powerful than their common variants. Once you complete them the first time, you won't have to meet their objectives again.

Combat assignments in the later regions such as Gongaga, Cosmo Canyon, and Nibel have the most formidable Fiends you can defeat. Try your hand at these battles again for as many times as you want before going through with the final chapter.

Complete Any Unfinished Side Quests

FF7 Rebirth - Community Noticeboard

Whenever you get the chance, revisit all the regions and finish all side quests that you haven't completed yet. The most ideal time to do this is Chapter 12, where fast travel to any region is possible even without availing a mode of transportation.

Alternatively, you can do this after clearing the story. Since EXP and AP will be amplified, you will get more of them than when you complete them during your first run.

How to Level Up Fast (Post-Game)

Clear the Story for More EXP

Clearing the Story will dramatically increase the EXP and AP gained after each battle. AP will be tripled, and EXP will be based on your current level. The higher your level is, the more EXP you will gain!

It's recommended that you aim for the level cap of 70 after clearing the main story, especially if you're planning to run a New Game Plus.

Equip the EXP Up Materia

FF7 Rebirth - EXP Farming Guide - EXP Up Materia
You can equip the EXP Up Materia on a character to double their EXP gain. You can get this in a chest during Chapter 13, inside a chest in the Amberstar Chamber - Floor area of the Labyrinth.

If you have this materia, feel free to take advantage of its effect and equip it to gain more EXP per battle, especially before farming from fiend sightings or tackling bosses.

How to Get the EXP Up Materia

Set the Difficulty to Hard

FF7 Rebirth - EXP Farming Guide - Set Difficulty

Presuming that you've already have the best equipment and materia with you, try your hand at the Hard difficulty to further increase the EXP you gain from battles. Hard Mode can be unlocked upon completing the main story.

With the increase in EXP and AP acquired from clearing the game, reaching the level cap of 70 and gaining the maximum amount of SP will be a cinch.

Run Musclehead Colosseum's “The Uncouth” Stage

FF7 Rebirth - EXP Farming Guide - Musclehead Colosseum

Another highly recommended area for farming EXP is Musclehead Colosseum's Six-Person Bout, The Uncouth.

This challenge will pit you against 10 Kyuvilduns and 10 Bandits, which are weak to ice and fire, respectively. They all possess relatively low HP and can be cleared easily with skills such as Yuffie's Windstorm and Barret's Smackdown.

Combat Simulator is Another Good Way of Farming EXP

FF7 Rebirth - Chadley

Apart from the battle minigames, Chadley's Combat Simulator is another fantastic way of racking up EXP and AP. The enemies you will face will be based off of the foes you have assessed, as well as Combat Assignments you have finished with all objectives met.

Hence, not only are they formidable, but you will face these opponents in multiple rounds, leading to large amounts of EXP.
