The Pursuit of Perfection Walkthrough and Rewards
The Pursuit of Perfection is a Side Quest that can be unlocked during Chapter 9 of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth). Read on to learn more about how to unlock The Pursuit of Perfection, where to find draconite deposits, as well as the available rewards.

How to Unlock The Pursuit of Perfection
Available as Soon as You Reach the Gongaga Region
You can unlock The Pursuit of Perfection side quest as soon as you arrive in Gongaga. It will be posted on the village's noticeboard.
How to Complete The Pursuit of Perfection
- Go to Izo's Smithery.
- Go to Izo's shed and take his map.
- Find the Draconite deposits.
- Engage and defeat the Daggerwings.
- Collect 8 Draconites.
- Return to Izo.
Go to Izo's Smithery
Izo's Smithery will be located northeast of Gongaga Village.
If you plan on completing this side quest right away to get a new weapon for Barret, you can walk towards the location. However, if you want to fast travel to nearby points, you need to have wrangled a Chocobo for the Gongaga Region first.
How to Get the Gongaga Chocobo
Go to Izo’s Shed and Take His Map
After talking to Izo, he will ask you to go to his storage shed and take a map that will lead to the materials he needs to craft the perfect weapon. After exiting Izo's Smithery, turn left and head straight on to find the shed.
Find the Draconite Deposits
Follow the indicated path above, heading westward to arrive at the Draconite Deposit location.
Engage and Defeat the Daggerwings
Before you start collecting draconite ore, go to the center of the clearing and engage the Daggerwings guarding the deposits. They will be easy to take out as long as Barret is on your team. Once you clear out the fiends, you'll be able to start collecting draconite ore.
Daggerwing Location and Weaknesses
Collect 8 Draconite Ores from Draconite Deposits
Izo needs 8 draconite ores for his weapon. The first two draconite deposits will be found nearby (where you fought the Daggerwings). Then, climb up the rope to find and collect the rest of the draconite. It shouldn't be hard to find; there's plenty once you climb the rope!
Return to Izo
After collecting all 8 draconites, return to Izo to complete the quest. You will receive the Fafnir Rifle exclusively for Barret.

Fafnir Rifle for Barret
Completing The Pursuit of Perfection rewards you the Fafnir Rifle for Barret. It's a great weapon that increases Barret's Magic Attack. Its weapon ability, Point Blank, can send enemies flying!

Increase Favorability With Barret
Completing The Pursuit of Perfection will also increase your friendship with Barret. This will affect the events that will occur when you visit the Gold Saucer later in the game.

Sharpshooter's Companion Vol. XII Dropped by Daggerwings in Hard Mode
While playing in Hard Mode, defeating the Daggerwings will reward you the Sharpshooter's Companion Vol. XII for Barret. You can access Hard Mode after completing your first playthrough of the game in any difficulty.
