Dodge When Gigaworm Launches Upwards
Whenever the Gigaworm dives underground, this means that they will follow your controlled character and will use Swallow. Dodge the moment the Gigaworm launches upwards.
Switch to a Different Character When You See Swallow
When you do not want to time your dodge when Gigaworm uses its swallow ability, you can opt to immediately switch to a different character instead once you see the Swallow prompt as this will make the AI of your previously controlled character dodge the Swallow on time.
Attack its Stomach to Free Party Members
If the Gigaworm happens to swallow one of your party members, concentrate your attacks on its stomach. This builds up its stagger gauge and provides you an advantage in battle.
Use Ice Spells When Gigaworm is Rolling
Gigaworm is weak to ice so use Blizzard spells to deal massive damage against the Gigaworm. The best time to use Blizzard spells is when the Gigaworm starts to roll towards or away from you.
This is one of the few moments where the Gigaworm is vulnerable so use this opportunity to cast Blizzard spells.
Use Ranged Attacks Like Yuffie's Ice Ninjutsu
As Gigaworm is weak to ice, bringing Yuffie to this fight is ideal as you can utilize her Ice Ninjutsu to imbue ice damage on Yuffie's regular attacks. You can attack Gigaworm from a safe distance using this method which is generally safe as you're in less danger to get swallowed.
After casting Ice Ninjutsu, throw your shuriken using Triangle and spam basic attacks (Square) to deal ranged elemental damage.
When you see the Gigaworm going towards you, just spam dodge to keep your distance and attack again with Ice Ninjutsu.
