Joins as a Companion in Chapter 9

The party will first meet Cid after using the telephone booth at the airstrip in Chapter 9: The Planet Stirs. Cid will then arrive to take Cloud and the others to their next destination. However, Cid will only join as a story companion and not an actual party member.

Should You Pay 1,000 Gil?

Pay the Pilot's Fee to Proceed

Cid will ask you for a pilot's fee of 1,000 Gil before letting you on the Tiny Bronco. By paying the gil, Cid will fly you to the next region and continue the story.

Should you refuse to pay, Cid will not let you on the plane and you will not be able to reach Cosmo Canyon until you change your mind.

Cid's Role in FF7 Rebirth

Meets Cloud in Rocket Town

Cid first meets Cloud and his friends in Rocket Town, during their search for Sephiroth. This coincides with a visit from Rufus Shinra, who tries to take Tiny Bronco to track Sephiroth himself. When Cid refused, they ended up fighting.

Things go down the drain for Cid and he ends up joining Cloud and his friends on their journey, using Tiny Bronco to fly them around the globe.

Was Part of the Shinra Space Program

In the past, Cid was part of the Shinra Space Program that had the Shinra No. 26 rocket. The rocket's failure to launch was the reason why the project was abandoned and ultimately became a tourist attraction, becoming Rocket Town.

Designer of Aircraft and Pilot

Apart from wanting to become an astronaut, Cid also designed aircraft on the side and is an amazing pilot. One of the aircraft he designed was the airship Highwind and the small plane he now pilots, Tiny Bronco.
