Players can now strengthen their party through Folio Skill Trees in FF7 Rebirth. Learn how the Folio Skill Trees work, how to increase Party and Weapon Levels, and how to obtain SP to unlock Skill Cores!

Folio Skill Trees is a new mechanic added in Rebirth where you can unlock Skill Cores containing new Abilities and stat boosts for your characters. Each character has a different Skill Tree and Cores to unlock.
Before you can unlock Skill Cores with SP, you must make them available first by increasing the Party Level.
Skill Cores are divided into three types: Stat Boosts, Abilities, and Synergy Abilities. You can easily determine which type a Skill Core is by looking at its color.
Synergy Abilities are powerful special moves you perform with a partner, and it comes with a bonus effect, such as Limit Level Increase, Extra ATB, Unlimited MP, and Stagger Extend. You can identify a Synergy Ability in the Folio with its orange icon.
All Synergy Abilities and How to Use
Synergy Skills are useful moves performed with a partner that expands your character's arsenal during combat. You can identify a Synergy Skill in the Folio with its orange icon, the same as the Synergy Ability.
All Synergy Skills and How to Use
Abilities are standard abilities your character can perform using the ATB gauge. These will not consume your MP, and the abilities can be identified in the Folio with its purple icon.
Stat Boosts amplify your pre-existing stats or skills by increasing its base values. These are great for further powering up certain aspects of your character. Stat Boosts can be identified by its blue icon in the Folio.
The party will gain Party EXP and eventually increase the Party Level by progressing through the story, as well as completing Quests and other activities.
Increasing Party Level also increases the Folio Level for all characters, revealing more Skill Cores in the Folio Skill Trees.

Same as in the Remake, you can get SP by increasing your Weapon Level, which happens while leveling up your character, as enemy encounters give both Weapon and Character EXP.
It is possible that you won't be able to complete the Skill Trees in the first playthrough, and will be required to get Manuscripts in Hard Mode to obtain the remaining SP, just like in the Remake.

You can gain more SP by getting Manuscripts which you can earn from Odd Jobs or purchase from moogle emporiums. Note that each character needs a unique manuscript to increase their SP.
