To access the Hustle and Grind side quest, you must complete all Phenomenon Intel in the Grasslands region and obtain Beck's Protorelic .

How to Complete Hustle and Grind

1. Interview with Beck
2. Defeat the Fiends
3. Defeat the Thugs

Interview With Beck

The side quest starts with Beck, the owner of Beck's Business, giving out questions for Cloud to answer. You will proceed through the quest no matter how Cloud answers.

Defeat the Fiends

Go to the marked area down the road, heading eastward out of Kalm on your Chocobo and defeat five Grasslands Wolves. Use Ice attacks to stagger them and make sure to dodge their Throat Clamp attack.

Defeat the Thugs

After defeating the Wolves, you will have to fight two Bandits and two Devil Riders. The Bandits are weak to Fire while the Devil Riders are weak to Lightning.

Take out the Devil Riders first, since they tend to interrupt your moves a lot. Use a long-range character to pressure and stagger them, as they're difficult to deal with close-up. The Bandits should be much easier to defeat now, especially using skills like Cloud's Firebolt Blade.

Increase Favorability With Barret

Completing Hustle and Grind will also increase your friendship with Barret. This will affect the events that will occur when you visit the Gold Saucer later in the game.

Romance and Relationship Guide

Sharpshooter's Companion Vol. XIII in Hard Mode

While playing in Hard Mode, completing the side quest will reward you the Sharpshooter's Companion Vol. XIII for Barret. You can access Hard Mode after completing your first playthrough of the game in any difficulty.
