Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Fire Knight's Shortsword Location, Stats, and Scaling

Fire Knight

Fire Knight's Shortsword is a Dagger in Elden Ring DLC Shadow of the Erdtree that scales with Strength, Dexterity, and Faith. Read on to learn how to get the Fire Knight's Shortsword, as well as its location, description, upgrades, stat requirements, and best Ashes of War.

Fire Knight's Shortsword Location

Note: The Fire Knight's Shortsword is only available if you own the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.

Chance to Drop from Fire Knights Wielding Shortswords

The Fire Knight's Shortsword has a chance to drop from the Fire Knights wielding Shortswords found inside the Specimen Storehouse of the Shadow Keep. The easiest place to farm and reset a Fire Knight encounter will be at the Storehouse, Seventh Floor site of grace.

How to Reach the Farming Spot at the Seventh Floor of the Storehouse

1
Starting from the First Floor of the Specimen Storehouse, make your way up until you reach the Third Floor of the Storehouse.
2
Once at the Third Floor, you'll see a Fire Knight near the central balcony. Face south and head to the walkway with a hanging statue to its right (2 Shadow Militia will spawn at the end of this walkway). Jump on the statue and use it to reach the Fourth Floor of the Storehouse.
3
From the Fourth Floor site of grace, face west then exit to reach the outside of the building. Once outside, face south and follow the path up until you reach an area with burning boats. Defeat the Fire Knight guarding the area and head up the stairs after.
4
At the top, you'll see a set of stairs leading down to your left. Skip this, instead continuing east until you encounter 2 bats. Defeat them and proceed round the bend until you encounter a doorway to your left.
5
Re-enter the Storehouse using the doorway then turn right (north). Follow this path, defeating all Fire Knights and Shadow Figures blocking your way until you reach a staircase leading up.
6
Go up the stairs and, once at the top, face east and go up the next set of stairs. However, instead of going all the way up, pause at the intersection and immediately face west. Go up these stairs to reach the Seventh Floor site of grace.
7
Once you're at the Seventh Floor site of grace, unlock it and rest to reset the area.
8
When you're ready, exit the room and face east. You should see a Fire Knight patrolling. You can farm it until you get the Fire Knight's Shortsword. Reset the area by resting at the site of grace until you get the weapon.

Boost Drop Rates by Increasing Item Discovery and Arcane Stats

Items That Boost Item Discovery
Talismans Silver Scarab (+ Item Discovery)
Outer God Heirloom (+ Arcane)
Marika's Soreseal (+ Arcane)
Consumables Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot
Silver Horn Tender
Armor Silver Tear Mask (+ Arcane)

To increase your chances of getting the Fire Knight's Shortsword, consider equipping and consuming items that boost your Item Discovery. The Silver Scarab is a great option for non-Arcane builds since it boosts Item Discovery by a sizeable amount on its own.

Note: If you plan to use a consumable like the Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot, make sure you do not fast travel back to the site of grace. Otherwise, the effect will expire immediately. To get the most out of the consumable, run back to the site of grace and rest manually.

Unless you're using a Dagger build, the Fire Knight's Shortsword is better left as a secondary hard swap. You can use it as exploration utility (Raptor of the Mists or Bloodhound's Step), or as a pocket Endure in PvP when you want to avoid getting blendered by 3-man squads.
