This skill was buffed in Ver 1.04, increasing its cast speed and decreasing its recovery time.

How to Use Wolf's Assault

Frostbite Weapon With Good Tracking

This skill will imbue the weapon with ice. The player then leaps and slams it into the ground, pulling the sword out for a burst of AoE ice damage.

Can Be Used in PvP

Both instances of the skill will cause frost build up, making it quite easy to trigger Frostbite if an enemy is hit. The tracking of the somersault is also quite decent, so if its used in PvP the enemy player will need to time their dodges right.

If the explosion manages to hit an enemy, it can stagger them, which can be useful in knocking them off ledges. Another way to make use of this skill is to either Poise-break an enemy or inflict them with the Sleep status effect through crossbow bolts, and then use Wolf's Assault.

Exercise Caution When Farming Enemies

The drawback of this skill is that the player can be damaged at any time during the cast animation, which puts them at a disadvantage if dealing with groups of enemies unless they have high Vigor and Poise.

While the explosion can deal a significant amount of damage if enemies are clustered close together, players will need to keep close attention to their health.

Do Not Use On Bosses

The cast animation and the fact that the player can be damaged at any time means that this skill is not very effective on bosses. Several bosses are very nimble and can thus dodge the skill, while others will just out-trade the player with their own huge amounts of damage.
