Elden Ring is a New IP

Elden Ring is a completely new game, with no ties to the worlds of Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, or Sekiro.

However, the game follows a long line of other games that serve as a spiritual successor to each of the prior games made by FromSoftware. With this role, players can expect to find familiar things in-game such as the way its combat works, save points, and even how the narrative of the story is structured to be similar to how they were presented in past titles such as Dark Souls.

Similar Gameplay

Chief among the similarities between Elden Ring and the games in what is colloquially known as the Soulsborne franchise is its gameplay. Similar to past FromSoftware titles, Elden Ring will feature numerous combat elements such as dodging, spells, and weapon arts, which are now known as Ashes of War.

Elden Ring will also have Multiplayer, a feature present in past titles that allow players to either team-up together and work towards a goal, or engage each other in a challenging PvP duel that pits player's skills against each other.

Does Elden Ring Have Multiplayer?

Familiar Story Beats

The game will feature a compelling back story chronicling the world after the shattering of the Elden Ring. Your character will be Tarnished, a group of people similar to the Chosen Undead of Dark Souls and other titles from past games.

This "story" can be explored through gameplay, in-game text that players can find in item descriptions, or in conversations with the limited amount of NPCs that players can meet through the world.
