How to Unlock Fragments of the Past

Fragments of the Past automatically unlocks after you complete the Shard Bearer main quest. Once you reach the doorstep of Cain's Workshop in Westmarch, Fragments of the Past main quest will trigger.

Fragments of the Past Quest Walkthrough

	Objective
1	To begin, enter Deckard Cain's Workshop. This small area is a solo Story Dungeon.
2	Speak to Deckard Cain and show him Yl'nira. Once he sees the dagger, wait for him to begin the ritual.
3	With the dagger ready to strike, do the honors and use Yl'nira to destroy the Worldstone Shards.
4	After the 3 Worldstone Shards are destroyed, speak to Deckard Cain. He will give you a mysterious letter which you have to read. This triggers the next main quest, The Cycle Begins after you exit his workshop. Rewards: ・Robe of Insight (Chest) ・21,621 EXP
5	Complete the main quest, The Cycle Begins, to continue Fragments of the Past.
6	After speaking to The Unspoken at the end of The Cycle Begins, return to Deckard Cain's Workshop.
7	Speak to Deckard Cain regarding passage to Mount Zavain.
8	Docks of Westmarch: Speak to Rehm at the Westmarch Docks to check on the status of your transport.
9	Mountain of the Faithful: Speak to Rehm again and select the option to travel to Mount Zavain. This will allow you trigger the next main quest, Into the Mountains.

Complete the Cycle Begins Main Quest

After you destroy the Worldstone Shards, Fragments of the Past will pause its progression. To continue the quest, players will need to finish The Cycle Begins main quest.

The Cycle Begins Quest Walkthrough and Rewards

Reach Level 46 to Unlock the Mt. Zavain Main Questline

The entire string of quests leading up to the conclusion of Fragments of the Past will mostly be to introduce the game mechanics behind the Immortals, Shadows, and the Cycle of Strife. However, to actually progress to the next area (Mt. Zavain), you will need to be Level 46 after the end of Fragments of the Past.

If you are missing a few levels, consider doing other activities such as Bounties, Elder Rifts, or the Horadric Bestiary in order to get the needed EXP to progress the main questline.
