How to Farm Legendary Gear

Legendary Gear Farming Guide

Defeat Orange Ancient Elites

Orange Ancient Elite
Ancient Elites, otherwise known as Orange Elites, are 100% guaranteed to drop a Legendary item on the first encounter of the day, so it's always worth it to seek them out. Just make sure to get the first hit on them, otherwise another player might get the rewards.

Ancient Elites spawn randomly in all zones and can only be found in the overworld. These monsters are the rarest spawns in the game, so you may be spending a lot of time waiting for them to spawn. The most efficient way to get them to spawn seems to be clearing out one location over and over until you see one pop up.

Pros Cons
・Many Chances for Drops
・Very Easy to Do
・No Gameplay Variety
・Dependent on Uncontested Farming

By far the best and most F2P-friendly way of farming Legendary Gear is by turning in Mounstrous Essences at the Horadric Bestiary for item rewards. While time-consuming, it is the best method as it gives a high chance of encountering elite mobs and glorious chests in the open world that also have a chance to drop Legendaries.

Note: Even though page deciphering is capped at 3 per day, the rewards can still be redeemed after hitting the cap by repeatedly farming and turning in 10 Monstrous Essences at the Horadric Altar. This is the most efficient way of farming Legendaries compared to the rest of the methods below.

Complete Bounties while farming Monstrous Essences

If you're unsure where to start a genocide for those Monstrous Essences, you can first head to Westmarch and accept Bounties. This way, you'll be able to roam zones and kill enemies (which also has a chance to drop Legendaries) to get Monstrous Essences and earn Gold from completed Bounties while you're at it.

Defeat Elite Mobs

You might also run into enemies marked with a skull on the minimap and are significantly stronger than their normal forms. These special enemies spawn randomly on zones so keep an eye on the minimap for these and defeat them as they have increased Legendary drop rate.

Purchase from Rarities & Antiquities NPC

Diablo Immortal - Gambling Loot

There's an NPC in Westmarch that can help you with farming Legendary Gear, especially if you don't know where to spend all your Gold on. After hitting level 35, go to the southeast corner of Rakkis Plaza and find Yakin's Rarities & Antiquities and gamble your Gold on Mystery Items.

The Mystery Items don't guarantee Legendary items, but they are a quick way to test your luck with a lot less effort needed. Just try not to gamble more than 10 times per category as the Gold cost increases after that and will only reset the next day.

Purchase from Hilts Trader NPC

Diablo Immortal - Hilts Trader

There's another NPC in Westmarch that, although you can only pull once a week for 1,600 Hilts, guarantees a random Legendary Item. You can find the Hilts Trader on the northeast area of Westmarch and as you might have already guessed, all the items on the list cost Hilts.

Participate in Immortals or Shadows Content

Diablo Immortal - Immortals Faction Hub

Joining either of the available factions also unlocks exclusive activities where you can obtain rewards including Legendary items. For example, you can obtain Legendary Gear from the Immortal Faction's Weekly Reward system or from the Shadow Faction's Contracts.

You can only join a faction after reaching level 43 and completing The Cycle Begins.

Should You Join Shadows or Immortals?

Complete Dungeons with Increased Legendary Drop Rate

If you still haven't farmed enough Legendary Gear for the day, you can take a look on your Codex, then from the Battle Pass tab, check which Dungeons have increased chances of dropping a Legendary Gear. Take note that the increased rate only applies to the dropped items after defeating the Dungeon's boss and not on every enemy inside the Dungeon.

You might also get Set Items if you're playing on one of the Hell Difficulties!

Is There a Limit on Legendary Drops?

5~6 Legendary Drops Daily

Diablo Immortal - Legendary Drop

You can only get 5~6 Legendary Gear daily get from downing enemies. Legendary items obtained through purchase, quest rewards, and other methods are excluded from the daily count. Players seeking to dedicate a day to farm for these Legendary pieces need only to get at least 5 or 6 of them, before focusing their attention elsewhere.
