・Summon Reliant

A Burst Mage With Summons

The Necromancer is a class that has several skills with most of them relying on high bursts of damage. Most of its skills are also focused on summons which allows the Necromancer to divert enemy attention to provide artificial durability for itself and even in parties by allocating some damage taken to its summons while at the same time, also dishing out damage using well-placed summons for free unattended DPS.

Fragile and Positioning Dependent

With its high burst damage and ability to divide damage to its summons, the Necromancer is still present with its weaknesses such as its low health. This weakness incentivizes and rewards players for properly using their summons to tank damage for them. Several of its skills as well require it to be close to enemies which may cause unwanted damage to befall the character which is why proper positioning is crucial for Necromancer players.

Starting Skills and Core Combo

The Necromancer's initial skills are decent for the majority of your grind to max level. You rely on Command Skeletons to take some hits and even use the Command Skeleton skill to reposition them to attract enemy attention or lure them into one area. Once done, you'll want to approach enemies then use Grim Scythe followed by Corpse Explosion to generate corpses for a chain reaction. Be sure to not use the Scythe twice in succession as Corpse Explosion deals less subsequent damage per explosion in a single cast.

To properly combo Corpse Explosion, use Grim Scythe once, use Corpse Explosion, then use it again while corpses are still present. Try to lure enemies as well on the corpse's areas to maximize your damage and only be sure to use Grim Scythe if no corpses are nearby.

Bone Spikes to Skeletal Mage

Your skills has too much AoE damage. Grim Scythe + Corpse Explosion is enough to clear any mob during a normal playthrough so swapping in an Area stun skill for consistent DPS like the Skeletal Mage is highly recommended. This is the only setup you need for grinding your levels. Make sure to use Skeletal Mage as often as you can! It deals a high amount of DPS and it can generate corpses from its kill as well as during its expiration.

Command Skeleton to Command Golem

We take and retain Command Skeleton for their ability to distract enemies and tank some damage. With Command Golem, you gain a real tank with stronger damage so do immediately replace Command Skeleton with Golem as soon as you get it.

Equipment Priority

Equipment Slot Affected Skill & Effect
Clotburst Main Hand Corpse Explosion: Corpse Explosion damage increased by 10%
Baleful Trinity Off Hand Soulfire: Soulfire now bounces to 1 additional target, but deals 30% decreased damage to subsequent targets.
Skullveil Head Skeletal Mage: Skeletal Mage duration increased by 20%.
ZirocoZiroco Shoulder Skeletal Mage: Skeletal Mage damage increased by 10%.

Legendaries Focused on Summons

During the leveling phase, you may only focus on equipment that gives you a higher combat rating than your previous equipment. However, with our build setup, aim for these legendaries to maximize your build's performance!

For these legendaries, we have no Chest Armor nor Legs and we focus our damage on Skeletal Mage as it's our main DPS, especially against bosses. We use Grim Scythe to pull enemies and kill all of them with the combined burst of the corpses Grim Scythe creates for massive Chain Reactions via Corpse Explosion.

Stats and Gears Are Low Priority While Leveling

At this point, stats are still not our priority. Make sure to focus first on the gear ratings and equip the items that provide the most value for your character. During this time, the most important stat we can have is Combat Rating and this multiples/divides your damage if you're tackling easy/difficult content. The easiest way to increase this is with good gear and good gear is easily spotted by the green markers you see if you find a gear with a better stat than your current one.

We highly recommend to start upgrading your gears as their gear ranks can easily be transferred to new equipment you find.

How to Upgrade Gear Ranks

Gem Priority

Gem Name
Rank
Effect
BerserkerBerserker's Eye
Increases all damage you deal by 5.00%, but increases all damage you take by 6%.
CaCa'arsen's Invigoration
Increases the speed of your Primary Attack by 6%.
Chained DeathChained Death
Increases damage done by your attacks by 1.50% per target hit, up to a maximum of 4.5% with 3 targets.
FollowerFollower's Burden
★★
Increases all damage you deal by 1.00% for each summon you control, up to a maximum increase of 6%
Freedom and DevotionFreedom and Devotion
Increases the duration of your summons by 8.00%.

Berserker's Eye

The most valuable low-star legendary gem you can get. This gem increases the damage you take but also increases the damage you dish out. As a character that lets its summon take damage, this gem means free damage if the class is played right and we highly recommend getting this.

Ca'arsen's Invigoration

Once you have your summons up, you'll be left with nothing aside from waiting for enemies to die for you to use in your combos. This leaves you with several downtimes for your primary skills so enhancing its damage is a great DPS increase for your character.

Chained Death

A gem that loves AoE attacks. Your primary skill as well as your corpse explosion both greatly generates value from this Gem so make sure to have this gem in your arsenal if possible as well.

Follower's Burden

This gem is only valuable during the early stages of this build as we'll be replacing Command Skeletons with Golems which lessens their quantity. With fewer summons around, you won't be able to maximize this gem's value so if you get this gem early, equip it but do not upgrade it.

Freedom and Devotion

This gem is much better for the later stages of this build once you get Skeletal Mages and the necessary legendaries to strengthen it. Skeletal Mage is your main DPS especially against bosses together with your primary skill so having legendary gems or stats to strengthen both skills is highly recommended to have.

Leveling Guide (Lv. 1-60)

Do Your Main Quests

Diablo Immortal - Search for Leoric.png

Your Main Quests will reward you with huge amounts of experience while clearing them. This will easily take you to mid-levels alone. However, the main quest will have experience gaps that will require you to reach certain levels for them to begin again. There are several events you can join to clear their experience gaps and hop to the next story events smoothly!

Utilize Dungeons and Battle Pass

Diablo Immoral - Clear Dungeons Faster.png

Dungeons are great places to get some experience easily. Their layout remains the same and they give generous rewards for being cleared. Their true value shows itself later on after unlocking hell difficulties for set rewards. While on it, check the Battle Pass as well before doing dungeons to see if there's a featured dungeon you can take for bonus battle pass points! In addition to that, Battle Pass events also grant experience points so it's a nice bonus to help you reach the next level requirement to resume your main quest.

Partake in Hidden Lair Events

Dark Wood Sanguine Ruins Hidden Lair World View (1).png

Hidden Lairs are timed dungeons that only one party can actively enter. They have generous rewards and are a great place to obtain normal gems. Aside from normal gems, there are several events inside lairs that grants bonus loots so do enter lairs and try to invite other people if you find one while playing solo!

Clear Challenge and Elder Rifts

Challenge Rift.png

Challenge and Elder Rifts is another reliable source of experience points and rewards. Challenge Rifts offer rewards such as gold, hilts, crafting materials, and even gears! Elder Rifts, on the other hand, is a great place to attempt at farming legendary gears. Elder Rifts are also the only place to get Legendary Gems which can greatly strengthen your character's stats!

Prioritize Bounties Last

Diablo Immortal - Bounty Board.png

Bounties are the least valuable among the events you can do when leveling. They do provide experience points but the time it takes to clear bounties does not make it worth it. To top it off, clearing bounties require a lot of movement on the map but our skill set doesn't have any mobility skills to make this activity much more efficient. Lastly, even if Wraith Form is equipped for faster roaming, the rewards are mostly focused on Gold which is a less important resource for us at this point.
