Diablo Immortal offers a variety of ways to create, customize, and transform your character. Read on to learn about the different cosmetic options available in Diablo Immortal, and how you can starty creating and customizing your own character in-game.
List of Contents
The first step to character creation is choosing your class. Pick from any of the 6 starting classes (Barbarian, Crusader, Monk, Demon Hunter, Wizard, or Necromancer) before beginning your journey.
Each class will have a unique look, so make sure you know the ins and outs of each available class before you start settling for which looks best!
Class Tier List: The Best Starting Classes to Choose
With your class selected, pick between the male or female models. Each one will have their own unique intro animation in the character creation screen that showcases what they look like. Picking either option is fine as your choice will not affect actual gameplay.
After setting your character's gender, you will be given 3 face presets to choose from. These vary depending on class and gender. Every class will have 3 different face presets for each gender. Pick a face preset that suits you.
Note: Once you've edited your chosen face preset later on, you can come back to the class selection screen to watch the changes you've made in action. Select the Back Button next to the Customize Hero button at the top left of the screen, and watch your new character animation play with your edits applied!
Optionally, players can also get a preview of what their character will look like when equipping certain class-restricted armor sets. Start by clicking any of the 3 options below the Customize button, before cycling through all the armor sets to see if their looks appeal to you.

Skin Tone | Hairstyle | Facial Proportions | Eye Color & Markings |
For a mobile game, Diablo Immortal has a surprisingly robust character creation system. Improving upon older Diablo titles, Immortal boasts a host of facial edit options when customizing your character's chosen face preset.
From styling your hair and beard, to editing your facial proportions, Diablo Immortal's customization options from the character screen offer a lot of variety to make your character as unique as possible.
To begin customizing your facial preset, select a skin tone to work with. Players will have a choice between 6 different skin tones from the editor screen.
With your skin tone set, head over to the hair tab and select a hairstyle of your choice. The number of hairstyles you can choose from will vary depending on class and gender. Additionally, male models will have the option to choose a different beard when navigating the hair tab.
Once you have a desired hairstyle (or hair and beard combo), select the hair color menu and start customizing your hair's shade. The editor can get really detailed, adding the option to edit the colors and length of your hair roots.
To get an even more distinct character, players can opt to tinker with the facial proportions of their chosen preset. Adjust the dimensions of the entire face using the different sliders and sculpt the character of your choice.
Lastly, players can choose different eye colors and facial markings to top off the character creation session. Choose between 7 types of eyes and a whole host of eye markings, face markings, and makeup for your character.
How to Customize Your Equipment |

Equip Regular Armor Sets |
Use Cosmetic Sets |
Inherit Legendary Essences |
Unlock Legendary Gem Resonances |
Once your character model is created, you can no longer edit what they look like using the original editor. Instead, customizing your character will have to be done using equipment modifications.
Equip different armor sets to change your in-game look, apply cosmetic sets to transform your armor, inherit essences to transmogrify your equipment, or unlock legendary gem resonances to truly make your legendary gear pop!
Just like in Diablo 3, players can equip different types of armor that change your character's look in-game. Find yourself a set of good-looking legendary armor by attempting harder dungeons and high-level content.
However, do note that armor sets tend to have certain perks and stats tied to them. Sometimes, even the best-looking set will not synergize with your current build or playstyle.
Alternatively, one of the best ways to change your look without sacrificing stats is by making use of Diablo Immortal's many cosmetic sets. These sets alter your look while still keeping the same stats as your equipped items.
Cosmetic Sets are shared between classes. However, each class will have its own unique look when donning the cosmetic set. Get your hands on the free Horadrim Cosmetic Set and see the changes in action for yourself.
Essence extraction is a brand new gameplay mechanic in Diablo Immortal that allows players to extract the essence of legendary items. Essences will contain the name, appearance, and unique perk of the extracted item, allowing you to give it to a different item in order to change its appearance and attributes.
Essence Transfer Guide: How to Extract Essences
According to a 2022 development blog post made by Blizzard, Legendary Gems may also offer an additional dimension to character customization in Diablo Immortal.
While still unconfirmed, there are plans to alter armor based on the level of your legendary gems, with higher levels unlocking unique cosmetic effects when equipped to an armor piece. The cosmetic effects become more visible as you level up your gems.
