Whirlwind Focused PvP Build

This build focuses on quickly dispatching your foes using Whirlwind's rapid AoE damage, modified Hammer of the Ancients' AoE utility, and Sprint's incredible mobility. These three abilities are further augmented by their respective Legendary effects, making for a build that turns Barbarians into constant fast-moving threats in PvP.

Legendary Gear Setup

The core Legendary items for this build are Eager Maelstrom and The Gathering. These two augment Whirlwind by increasing its area-of-effect radius and giving it a vacuum effect, making it an incredibly potent skill in PvP.

The Remembered is important for the build as it augments Hammer of the Ancients to summon an allied Spirit that also stuns enemies in a large AoE, increasing your crowd-control ability and improving your single-target DPS.

Second Breath and Broken Grasp are used in the build to make Sprint even more effective. These two items increase the skill's duration and provide Sprint with 20% dodge chance, allowing you to stick to running enemies and reach PvP objectives faster.

While Screaming Fury is not necessary for the build to function, it gives you the option of swapping one of your skills over to Furious Charge mid-match, which provides you with added disruption and mobility when needed.

Set Gear Choice

For this build, Grace of the Flagellant is the set of choice. It directly synergizes with Whirlwind by improving Channeled damage and providing benefits whenever you hit enemies multiple times.

Legendary Gem Setup

Trickshot Gem is core to the build as it increases the channeling duration of Whirlwind.

Blood-Soaked Jade, Fervent Fang, and Everlasting Torment are used in the build as they improve the damage potential of Whirlwind.

Blessing of the Worthy and Power and Command are used in the build for extra utility and survivability, providing a strong AoE attack and damage reduction when hit and potentially removing negative effects every few seconds.

Stats and Paragon Priorities

Attribute Priorities

Strength Strength is core to all Barbarian builds as it directly contributes to Damage and Combat Rating.
Vitality Vitality is crucial to the build for staying alive in PvP as long as possible, especially with the mode's lack of Healing Potions.
Movement Speed Movement Speed is important for the build as it improves your ability to retreat from situations and stick to opponents with Whirlwind.
Attack Speed Attack Speed is a vital stat as it directly affects the frequency at which Whirlwind deals damage, improving your DPS.
Critical Hit Chance Critical Hit Chance is particularly strong in Whirlwind builds as the ability hits multiple times at a fast rate, allowing you to critically hit more often.

Paragon Priorities

Survivor > Vanquisher > Soldier

Prioritize spending points in Survivor early as it provides plenty of survivability with skills like Unyielding and Stalwart. These two abilities reduce the damage you take and improve your block chance as your Life decreases.

Put some points into Vanquisher next to improve your DPS using Damage Nodes while working towards Paragon Level 50.

Once you hit Paragon Level 50, prioritize Soldier next as it is the PvP-focused tree. It provides abilities such as First Aid and Battle Morale, which provide healing and increased damage as long as you stick together with your party to defeat foes.

How to Play

Always Keep Sprint Active

Diablo Immortal - Battlegrounds Sprint Usage
Always have Sprint active to swiftly move towards objectives and enemies. Broken Grasp provides the ability with increased 20% dodge chance, so it's great to use while channeling Whirlwind as well.

However, note that Sprint can also be used to retreat after Undying Rage goes on cooldown, so while you should use it often, be sure to also use it wisely.

Group and Clear Foes with Whirlwind

Diablo Immortal - Gathering Whirlwind PvP
Once you've reached your opponents, use Whirlwind to round them up and start dealing massive amounts of AoE damage.

Always have Sprint active and keep moving when using Whirlwind to hit as many targets as possible while dodging attacks and projectiles that come towards you.

Disrupt Enemies with Hammer of the Ancients

Diablo Immortal - Hammer of the Ancients Disrupt PvP

After grouping up enemies with Whirlwind, activate Hammer of the Ancients and take advantage of its stun and summoned Spirit. Doing this allows you to continue your pressure and finish enemies off with Frenzy.

Only Activate Undying Rage When Necessary

Diablo Immortal - Undying Rage PvP

Undying Rage prevents you from taking lethal damage if it is off cooldown, so never use it unless absolutely necessary. Save it for moments when you lack Bandages or when deliberately taking lethal damage to chase after key targets and objectives.

While it isn't mandatory for the build to function, we use Screaming Fury in this build because it provides Barbarians with the option to swap to Furious Charge mid-match. With this build, you can swap out Hammer of the Ancients for Furious Charge if you feel like you need added disruption and mobility for your current PvP match.

Why Screaming Fury in a build that doesn't use Furious Charge?
