Essence Transfer is a gameplay mechanic in Diablo Immortal that allows players to transfer the power of one legendary item to another. Read on to learn more about Essence Transfer including how to extract, transfer, and inherit Essences, and the restrictions when using this mechanic.
List of Contents
In order to unlock the Essence Transfer mechanic, players will need to farm and obtain 2 different legendary items that belong to the same equipment category (e.g. 2 Chests or 2 Leg Armors). Once you have them, the game will notify you that the Essence Transfer Feature is now available to use in Westmarch.

Once you have 2 different legendary items that belong to the same equipment category, head over to Westmarch and seek out Zamina near the Rakkis Plaza Waypoint. Speak to her briefly in order to access the Essence extraction and transfer menus.

Select a Legendary Item for Extraction Spend 3000 Gold to Extract the Item's Essence |
To begin, speak to the Essence Transfer NPC and open up the transfer menu. Select Extract and scroll through the list of legendary items to find the one you want to extract the Essence from. This is the item that you will be sacrificing in order to give its legendary power to another item.
Note: The transfer menu will list all legendary items in your current menu that can have their Essences extracted. Items that you own will be highlighted, while items you do not own will be greyed out.
Legendary Items that you have equipped or placed in your Stash will not appear as extractable when you bring up the Extract menu. Make sure you have the desired item in your Player Inventory (with its rank transferred) before you begin extracting its power.
Once you have the legendary item selected, hit Extract to spend 3000 Gold to extract the item's legendary Essence. This will allow you to keep the legendary power for later use via Essence Transfer.
Warning: Extracting a legendary item's Essence will destroy the item permanently. Only extract the Essence of an item that no longer benefits your character's build.

Select a Legendary Item to Inherit the Essence Transfer the Extracted Essence to the Selected Item |
To start transferring essences, speak to Zamina again but this time select the Inherit menu. Pick any of your equipped legendary items that you want to transfer an Essence to, and select Inherit.
Once you've chosen the item, select the Essence (legendary power) you want to give it. This will change the name, appearance, and legendary power of the inheriting item.
Note: An orange flame symbol will appear in the top right corner of your item if it has inherited powers. Do not worry as this is merely an indicator so that players do not mix up their items when in storage.
Unlike Essence extraction, transferring a legendary power to your equipped item will not destroy it. You can revert it back to it's original power by simply using Essence Transfer again but this time picking its Original power indicated on the list.
A rule of thumb when extracting Essences is to only extract the legendary powers of items that you no longer need. If a newly identified item has higher stats than your current item (or is identified as an Exceptional Item), equip and transfer your gear rank to the stronger legendary before extracting the essence of the old item for use, instead.
When scrapping legendary items en masse at the Blacksmith, make sure to pay attention to the different pop-up tooltips that appear. Whenever you try to scrap a legendary item that you do not have the Essence of, a warning will appear telling you just that.
Remember, before you begin scrapping legendary items, make sure to check if you have their Essences unlocked by speaking to Zamina and browsing the Essence list. If you have confirmed that you have it, feel free to scrap the item for Glowing Shards.
The Essences (legendary powers) you extract can be applied to multiple items at once. This means, you do not have to return the transferred Essence every time you find an better legendary item for your equipment slot.
Instead of having multiple pieces of legendary equipment in your stash that you swap out when changing builds, you can instead stick to your most powerful set of items and use Essence Transfer to equip the different pieces required for the new build.
You can juggle multiple loadouts by simply saving them at the Armory in Westmarch. Once you finish, it's as easy as saving it and swapping into it when the need arises. This method prevents you from making multiple trips to the stash and Zamina the Essence Transfer merchant when changing builds.
Essence Transfer is a gameplay mechanic in Diablo Immortal that allows you to extract and transfer a legendary item's legendary power (as well as its name and appearance) onto another legendary item of the same type. This is especially useful when one of your weaker legendary items has a legendary perk that you would like to use on an item with better overall stats.
For returning pssdlayers, Essence Transfer functions much like extracting legendary powers using Kanai's Cube in Diablo 3. However, in Diablo Immortal, the perks will first need to be transferred to an item before use.
Since legendary items are hard to come by in the early stages of the game, it will be necessary to shed your low level legendary gear for ones with much better stats as you level up. Essence Transfer allows you to extract your old item's legendary power (especially one that your build relies on) and re-apply it to a legendary item with better stats.
On top of changing the receiving item's legendary power, Essence Transfer also changes the name and appearance of the item, effectively transforming it into that item rather than functioning as a simple cosmetic change. This is one of the limited appearance change functions available to players in Diablo Immortal.
