Wizard Skillshot PvP Build

Diablo Immortal - Wizard Skillshot Build

This PvP build is a skillshot setup for players looking to pick off solo enemies in Battlegrounds PvP. Being heavily reliant on positioning, this build will give you a feel for aggressive PvP Wizard combat. By pairing the one-two-punch of an instant Ray of Frost and Distintegrate combo, with the high chase potential of a Mask of Illusions Teleport, this build will allow for very aggressive plays when supported by a team.

Legendary Gear Modifies Beam Skills

Ray of Frost PvP Legendary Items

To get the basic combo online, you will need Arcane Intensifiers for the instant Disintegrate shot and Kyn's Cryoclasp for the instant Ray of Frost stun beam. Mask of Illusions will be your trump card for chase potential at it grants both invisibility and a decoy illusion at your point of origin when you Teleport. The distractions will leave you free to chase after fleeing enemies.

Set Items Increase CC Durations

The core of this build revolves around the 4-piece Feasting Baron's Pack as the set bonuses increase the duration of your Ray of Frost stun, while also buffing the damage follow-up of Disintegrate. The 2-piece Windloft Perfection will seal the deal, giving you the Thousand Winds buff for faster movement in PvP.

Legendary Gems Help with Survivability

Since this build focuses on playing aggressively, defensive legendary gems are needed to increase your survivability. Phoenix Ashes will allow you to chase safely, giving you an avenue of escape in case you overextend and take lethal damage. Battleguard is the same, reducing melee damage you receive especially in scenarios where you get caught by either Monk, Barbarian, or Crusader CCs.

Stats and Paragon Priorities

Attribute Priorities

Intelligence Intelligence is the primary stat for Wizards. Prioritize this when equipping legendary and set armor as it gives the most Damage and Combat Rating returns out of all the stats
Critical Hit Chance Since the entire moveset of this build is comprised of single shots (including primary attacks), it is very important that you proc Crits as much as possible for faster player kills.
Critical Hit Damage With Crit Hit Chance being a priority stat, Damage naturally follows. Get the most out of your shots since you're essentially a Wizard glass cannon.
Fortitude Armor and Armor Penetration are always nice to have. With this chase build, you will want the added Armor Penetration for easier kills without having to compromise Armor stats.
Willpower This build relies on your control skills. Willpower will help boost their effectivenenss, especially with your Ray of Frost stun.

Paragon Priorities

Vanquisher > Gladiator > Soldier

From Paragons 1 to 50, invest only in Vanquisher. Unless you have a surplus of Normal Gems pre-level 60, the boost to Damage will be more valuable than the increased HP afforded by Survivor. Once you hit Paragon 50, pump points into Gladiator for some PvP buffs like Cheat Death and Quick Witted.

At higher Paragon levels, Soldier will be a must-have since you will be playing with a team anyway. Its life-saving perks will fit well with the playstyle of this build as you will consistently be retreating towards your teammates during PvP.

How to Play

Use Ray of Frost for Control and Kill Setups

Diablo Immortal - Ray of Frost PvP Opener

The modified Ray of Frost will always be your opener for this build as its stun is amazing for setting up kills or even stopping aggressive enemies dead in their tracks. Do note that the modified version can stop most enemies even in the middle of their abilities. Some of the more notable skills it can interrupt are the Barbarian's Whirlwind and the Crusader's Draw and Quarter.

Pre-Aim Ray of Frost Using the Minimap

When piloting this build, the minimap will be your best friend. When pushing against attackers, keep your eyes on it as you can pre-aim your Ray of Frost opener for enemies trying to flank you. Remember, this build relies heavily on good positioning. The minimap will allow you to gauge where you should be making aggressive plays on the map.

Follow Up with Disintegrate and Primary Attacks

Diablo Immortal - Follow Up with Disintegrate

After hitting your Ray of Frost and stunning the target/s, immediately follow up with the insta-Disintegrate beam and flurry of primary attacks. Take advantage of the build's bonus damage against enemies suffering loss of control by chaining these attacks while the stun is active.

Remember, securing kills can come later. If your enemy survives the onslaught, it will still be a victory as they will have to retreat and recover HP. Due to your skills' low cooldowns, you can rinse and repeat to interrupt Attacker pushes by simply poking and prodding for your team.

Chase or Retreat Using Teleport's Invisibility

Diablo Immortal - Use Teleport to Disengage

Sometimes, key kills can swing losing fights in your favor. For this reason, you can buy space for your team by chasing down fleeing frontline enemies and sending them back to the respawn screen. If you see a low HP enemy, use the Mask of Illusions Teleport to give chase.

Your illusions should keep pursuers busy and the invisibility after relocating will help you catch the low HP player unawares. Some good chase targets are Necromancers reatreting using Wraith Form, aggressive Demon Hunters that use Daring Swing to fight and retreat, and Barbarians retreating after using Undying Rage.

Use Black Hole to Zone or Pull Enemies

While you can zone choke points easily using Black Hole, it can also be used offensively to pull enemies toward your team. Use the unique modifier of Time-Warped Cloth to teleport behind a group of enemies and the moving Devouring Void Black Hole to push them towards your team. If you mess up the combo or only got 1 attacker, the legendary leg piece will allow you to return back to your original location, unharmed.

Warning: This move requires team coordination. Without proper communication, it can swing in the favor of the enemy team, especially if your party members are not ready to chain their own CCs after your Black Hole.

Always Play with a Dedicated Team

While this build performs well at lower Battlegrounds ranks, it will be harder to get solo kills as you move up the ladder and play against squads of potential Shadows or Immortals. To maximize the utility of this build, play with a team that can support your retreats or that can follow up on your control skills and inflicted damage.
