Normal Gems and Legendary Gems can be either Unbound or Bound in Diablo Immortal. Read on to learn the difference between Unbound and Bound Gems, how to get Unbound Gems, and what you can do with them.
Both Normal Gems and Legendary Gems can be either Unbound or Bound in Diablo Immortal. Although the Attributes they contribute to your character are exactly the same, there is one crucial difference: Unbound Gems can be sold on the Market for Platinum, whereas Bound Gems cannot be sold and will always belong to your character.
To know whether your Gems are Bound or Unbound, open up the character menu and select the Gem tab. Unbound Gems have a Market icon in the top left corner, while Bound Gems have no icon.
Unbound Gems will lose their special status and be downgraded to Bound Gems in the following situations:
This only affects you if you are planning to sell Unbound Gems on the Market. As there is no difference in Attributes or stats between Bound and Unbound Gems, most players will not have to worry about this.
Aside from purchasing Unbound Gems directly on the Market with Platinum, there are several other ways to get them in the game.
There are two methods to get Unbound Legendary Gems:
Unfortunately, neither method allows you to choose which Legendary Gem you get. If you go the crafting route, you can only craft Unbound Gems through the 1-Star, 2-Star, or Random Legendary options using Fa Runes. As the Gems that drop from Elder Rifts are completely random, you won't be able to choose which Gem you get this way either.
Be warned that Legendary Gems earned from regular Legendary Crests are Bound and therefore not sellable on the Market. Only Legendary Gems from Eternal Legendary Crests, which are purchaseable on the Shop with real money, are Unbound.
There is currently only one way to get Unbound Normal Gems, and that is by playing the game in a 4-player party. This bonus applies equally to both grinding dungeons and killing monsters outside, so as long as you're in a party with 3 other players, monsters have a chance to drop Unbound Normal Gems. Note that there is a limit of about 5 Gems per day using this method.
