This build revolves around Scorch and Arcane Wind, having you proc the Firestorm reaction which deals a ton of crit damage on hit. Relying heavily on good positioning, this skill build has you constantly on the move, getting around using Teleport and buying space with Meteor's DoT.
It is when you play with a group that this truly build shines. All you need is one ally CC that pulls enemies into a clump before being able to let loose your combo. Additionally, when playing with others, the build allows for more flexibility. Instead of an escape like Teleport, players can replace it with a CC like Black Hole for easier combo setups, or an AoE spell like Lightning Nova for more DPS.
The choice of legendary gear aims to buff the interactions between your Scorch and Arcane Wind abilities. Devastation modifies Arcane Wind, removing its charge animation and turning it into a forward-shooting tornado which syncs with the hitbox of Scorch. On top of that, Devastation along with Unrepentant Gale brings up the maximum charges of Arcane Wind to 3.
For set items, you will want the set bonus of Windloft Perfection. Its 15% movement speed boost and 20% damage buff with the Thousand Winds effect is perfect for quickly running and pushing Elder Rifts or going through Dungeons with a group.
The core of this build revolves around dealing as much damage as possible, trading survivability in favor of melting anything that may kill you. While the 5-star gems are self-explanatory, the lower ranked gems all play their own part in the build.
Intelligence | Wizard main stat. Prioritize this as it gives the best return for both Damage and Combat Rating. |
---|---|
Critical Hit Chance | To make the most out of Firestorm, you will need to be hitting consistent Crits. For this reason, aim for increased Crit Chance in your items' magic properties. |
Critical Hit Damage | Since Crit Chance is a big factor, Crit Damage naturally follows in order to increase your outgoing damage. |
Vitality | Finally, Vitality is necessary in order to survive harder difficulties and group play. You cannot go wrong by having more of this stat. |
Vanquisher > Treasure Hunter > Soldier |
---|
Your early Paragon Points should be invested into Vanquisher as it rewards you with a lot of damage dealing attributes and perks. Survivor is good, but survivability can be offset by your Teleport skill easily. At Paragon 50, invest into Treasure Hunter since that increased Magic Find will allow for easier item farming.
Once you reach higher Paragon levels (150 and up), start investing in Soldier. At this high of a level, you will be wanting to play at higher difficulties, which means more group play. Soldier answers this need, providing ample survivability for you and your party.
The bread and butter of this build is the Scorch into Arcane Wind combo. Set enemies alight with Scorch, then start hitting them will all 3 of your Arcane Wind charges. For bigger groups of enemies, you can stagger the Arcane Wind, going Scorch > Arcane Wind > Meteor > Arcane Wind x2.
When your skills start their cooldowns, start moving again to get the enemy train restarted. Hold down the primary attack button to keep drawing aggro using Electrocute. Once either Scorch or Meteor is off CD, hit the train again and follow up with your single Arcane Wind charge. Repeat as necessary until the group is dead.
When running Dungeons, make sure to wait for teammates to use their CCs before unleashing your combo. Ideally, you want to be hitting as many enemies as possible to maximize the damage dealt by the triple Arcane Wind. In a pinch, you can replace Teleport with Black Hole to contribute a CC. Just remember to switch out your helm with Cowl of the Abyss to increase its radius by 20%.
When in Elder Rifts, ignore everything else until you find an elite mob. Once you do have one in your sights, start drawing enemy aggro until you have a train of enemies following behind you. This will set you up for the build's main combo.
Note: Use Teleport to skip tight corridors and hallways if you find yourself blocked by normal mobs. Remember, the goal is to fill up the Rift gauge as quickly as possible so that you have more time for the Rift Guardian fight.
The biggest bottleneck of this build is its single target damage. Due to your low output, the difficulty of end-of-dungeon boss battles or Rift Guardians will vary depending on the type of boss you're placed against. During this fight, pay attention to your Power & Command gem. As the boss is spawning in, tap the gem icon under your HP bar and internalize the current interval.
Once the boss is open to damage, alternate between Electrocute and your skills depending on the currently active buff. When possible, save your primary attack ultimate for this fight in order to make it go faster.
