Firestorm Transition Build for PvP

While Firestorm is an amazing combo when taking on PvE content, it can easily transition to PvP with the right tweaks. By swapping out Electrocute for Magic Missile and replacing Scorch with a zoning Black Hole, you get a build that can slow, disable, and melt opponents in Battlegrounds PvP, easily.

Legendary Gear to Setup Control Skills

Cowl of the Abyss will be your ticket to zoning Black Holes. The increased area-of-effect (20%) will be perfect for blocking choke points, particularly when Defenders or Attackers start pushing Battlegrounds' objectives.

For area denial, Windshaper and the Starcaller's duo (Drapery and Breeches) will be all you need. The former gives you homing Arcane Wind twisters which slow opponents down on hit, and the latter will increase Meteor's Burn AoE, serving to deter enemy pushes.

Set Items Increase Survivability

On top of move speed bonuses and damage buffs, farming and equipping a 6-piece Windloft Perfection set will give you a 5-hit shield to burn when you overextend. For a build that rewards aggressive plays, this set is perfect for making plays with minimal risk to your Wizard.

However, if you do find yourself getting popped easily, you can go for a 4-piece Windloft Perfection with a 2-piece Untouchable Mountebank for the nifty shield procs upon receiving damage.

Legendary Gems Work on Single-Target Damage

In PvP, DoT effects will always be king. For that reason, this build makes use of Seeping Bile and Everlasting Torment as they stall out enemy healing, allowing you to push objectives easily. Primary attack damage is also buffed using Howler's Call and Blood-Soaked Jade to give you the kill potential needed to finish off low HP players.

Stats and Paragon Priorities

Attribute Priorities

Intelligence Intelligence is the primary stat for Wizards. Prioritize this when equipping legendary and set armor as it gives the most Damage and Combat Rating returns out of all the stats.
Willpower Willpower is amazing in PvP as it helps shorten the duration of DoT and Loss of Control effects, while also buffing your own CC skills for battle.
Critical Hit Chance Crit Hit Chance is a must for this build, as your primary attacks will be what you use to finish off enemies.
Critical Hit Damage If you can, equip items with magic properties that boost your Critical Hit Damage once you have enough Critical Hit Chance stats. Reroll equipment bonuses under the Wildfire Family if you need more Crit Damage.
Vitality Again, with how little HP and Armor the Wizard has, more HP will always be welcome in a PvP build.

Paragon Priorities

Vanquisher > Gladiator > Treasure Hunter

At low Paragon Levels, go for Vanquisher as this will directly affect your farm for set items and legendaries as a Level 60 entering Hell 1 Difficulty. However, once you hit Paragon 50, start investing in Gladiator to get an edge in PvP. Since this will be your most active tree during Battlegrounds, make sure to prioritize getting points into it once it becomes available.

It is only after you have solid buffs for PvP do you start investing in Treasure Hunter. Once you plan to consistently participate in PvP content as an Immortal or Shadow, Treasure Hunter will replace your PvE tree with its buffs to magic find down the line.

How to Play

Use Black Hole to Block Choke Points

With Cowl of the Abyss equipped, your main zoning skill will be Black Hole. During difficult pushes or during area transitions, this skill is perfect to bog enemies down and prevent them from going for the objective. On top of the CC it grants, it can combo well with your teammate's AoE skills (or even Meteor), setting up a nice one-two-punch for trapped enemy players.

Follow-Up with Meteor AoE and Arcane Wind for Damage & Control

The AoE Meteor provided by the Starcaller's Duo (Drapery and Breeches) will allow you to deal DoT damage especially against groups of enemies trying to fight you. However, unlike in PvE, the chief job of Arcane Wind is to slow enemies down. With the modified version courtesy of Windshaper, this combo is also guaranteed to make enemy players think twice before pushing your team.

Use Arcane Wind to Zone Aggressive Players

Arcane Wind can also be used on its own. If you are being hounded by an aggressive melee player or if your team is facing down a massive push, delay the enemy advance by casting two Arcane Winds to zone them. Not only will they be forced back, you can still keep your Black Hole and Meteor combo in the back pocket should they resume their push.

Use Teleport to Chase Down Kills

Since your Magic Missile is practically armed to the teeth with Legendary Gem buffs, make sure to chase down low HP enemy players using Teleport. Secure kills for your team or kill key aggro takers like low HP Barbarians or Crusaders to swing the fight.

Remember, Teleport in this build works in tandem with Csur's Fortutious Ward, giving you a shield that allows you to keep the pressure up without having to risk death. Take advantage of its skill modifier by making aggressive plays that enemies would not normally expect from a Wizard.
