Wizard Build Profile

Build Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths Weaknesses
・Powerful AoE Damage
・Decent Crowd Control
・Multiple Playstyles
・Amazing Mobility Skill
・Low HP
・Relies on Skill Synergy
・Most Skills are Skillshots
・Long Skill Cooldowns
・Low Single-Target Damage

The Wizard is a ranged class that excels at dealing burst AoE damage using skill combos. With decent crowd control skills at later levels and access to an amazing mobility skill, leveling up the Wizard will offer varied playstles when tackling solo or group content.

However, the Wizard also has a lot of downsides, particularly how skill combos are not thoroughly explained once you get each of your skills. This, on top of its low HP, reliance on hitting skillshots, and using the correct sequence of skills, makes it a very tricky class play for newer players.

*The following marked skills are situational upgrades.

Go Scorch and Arcane Wind for Solo Play

Unlike other classes, leveling up the Wizard is not a straightforward affair. Skill builds are arbitrary, with the player being called to consistently switch up their playstyle as they tackle different types of PvE activities.

When you first start out as Wizard, make use of the Scorch and Arcane Wind combo. Proc Firestorm to do a lot of damage to enemies that are set aflame. This skill build works best when tackling dungeons by yourself, pushing rifts solo, or when doing bounties.

Use Ice Crystal with Ray of Frost and Disintegrate for Group Play

For any kind of group play, the Ice Crystal with Ray of Frost and Disintegrate will be better to use. Put down the crystal and shoot your beams at it to proc Refraction, dealing damage in an AoE around the crystal. At level 20, start getting used to switching skills for solo and group content.

Use Meteor, Slow Time, or Ice Armor at Higher Levels

At higher levels, some of these builds will not be practical. Remember to switch out any of your offensive spells for support skills such as Ice Armor or Slow Time. Meteor is also situational if you do not have any legendary modifiers for it. Only bring it along if you need more damage output.

Your first big hurdle will be defeating Lassal the Flame-spun as the Helliquary questline's first real raid boss. Both the Scorch and Ice Crystal combos will not be practical here. Instead, mix up your build, and bring along skills that allow you to keep moving during the fight.

Equipment Priority

Equipment Slot Affected Skill & Effect
DevastationDevastation Main Hand Arcane Wind: Arcane Wind now summons a Tornado that damages enemies in a line. Also increases maximum Arcane Wind charges by 1.
Unrepentant GaleUnrepentant Gale Off Hand Arcane Wind: Maximum Arcane Wind charges increased by 1.
StarcallerStarcaller's Breeches Legs Meteor: Meteor now continually damages enemies in an area, but no longer stuns.
StarcallerStarcaller's Drapery Chest Meteor: Meteor radius increased by 20%.

Focus on Raising Combat Rating

Picking the right equipment while leveling up is as easy as equipping whatever item has a Green Arrow when you open up your inventory. While main stats are important to build up, remember that Combat Rating is king in Diablo Immortal PvE.

However, the real priority while leveling up is upgrading your equipment since upgrades are tied to the equipment slot and carry over when you change to better gear.

Gem Priority

Gem Name
Rank
Effect
BerserkerBerserker's Eye
Increases all damage you deal by 5.00%, but increases all damage you take by 6%.
CaCa'arsen's Invigoration
Increases the speed of your Primary Attack by 6%.
Everlasting TormentEverlasting Torment
Your critical hits inflict agony, dealing 16.7% Base damage + 202 every second for 3 seconds. Each enemy can only be affected by this once every 6 seconds.
SeledSeled's Weakening
Gain 6.00% increased damage for 60 seconds after killing an Elite monster.
Lightning CoreLightning Core
★★
Your Primary Attacks and movement slowly charge you up with electricity. When fully charged, your next Primary Attack will release chain lightning, dealing 90% base damage + 1,134 to nearby enemies. Cannot occur more often than once every 20 seconds.
Power and CommandPower and Command
★★
Power and Command alternates states every 9 seconds. Power increases your Primary Attack damage by 8%. Command increases all other skill damage by 8%.

Your main focus for gem priority is boosting your pushing potential and primary attack damage. Given that the Wizard has low single-target damage, some of these easy-to-get legendary gems will serve you well while leveling up.

Leveling Guide (Lv. 1-60)

Do Your Main Quests

One of the easiest sources of XP are Main Quests since they reward you with huge amounts of experience (as well as area auto navigation) for clearing them. Focus on these during the first 3 regions of Diablo Immortal since they will easily take you to levels 25-30.

However, do note that main quests will have experience gaps between them, requiring you to reach certain levels for them to begin again. Participate in many of Diablo Immortal's PvE activities to make up the difference.

List of Main Quests

Focus on Dailies & Battle Pass Challenges

Before you do any more quests, make sure to do your 12 daily tasks as this rewards you with bounty chests that contains useful items, upgrade materials, and gold. On top of these, dailies are probably the easiest way to farm legendary armor and weapons.

However, majority of the XP you'll be getting will be from leveling the Battle Pass. Since leveling up the Battle Pass also grants you character XP, doing any of its featured tasks will have you level up multiple times per Battle Pass level.

All Daily Quests and Activities

Use Group Finder for Dungeons to Boost Gem Drop Rates

When doing any of the featured dungeons for loot and XP, make sure to use Party Finder to find a group. While content becomes harder, it does come with a nice boost to gem drop rates, making the longer dungeons worth it to run repeatedly.

Multiplayer Guide: How to Play Co-Op

Switch Playstyle Depending on Your Gear

Without Devastation, the Ray of Frost, Disintegrate, and Ice Crystal combo will be very competitive simply because of how good its AoE damage is compared to Arcane Wind and Scorch. Consider switching your playstyle and build if you have better equipment which complement this combo or if you like playing co-op content.

Start Running Solo Elder Rifts in Westmarch

Elder Rifts will be where your build truly starts to shine. On top of the chance to drop Legendaries, Elder Rifts are good practice for chaining skills and kills. Try your skill combos here and see if they're practical in battle.

Arcane Wind and Scorch will be the easiest to use when running Elder Rifts since their low cooldowns mean you can keep moving and doing consistent damage while training enemies behind you.

Elder Rift Guide

Run Solo Challenge Rifts When You Can

The Main Quests leading up to acquiring the Helliquary will be very hard. To begin chipping away at its requirements and at the same time earning upgrade materials and leaderboard placements, start doing Challenge Rifts at whatever difficulty your gear and skills can manage.

Remember, the Helliquary main quest will require you to complete a Level 8 Challenge Rift, so it is better to be familiar and ready for its challenges rather than diving unaware once the quest rolls around.
