This PvP build uses Legendary gear to modify Rain of Vengeance and Knockback Shot to give them Chill effects. Use the opportunity when enemies are slowed by these Control skills to activate Vengeance and rain bullets on them.
As mentioned, you'll need Hailstone Shoulders and Petahm's Secret Arsenal to add Control effects to Rain of Vengeance and Knockback Shot, respectively.
Boundless Ingenuity is another valuable piece in this build as the extra swing will help a lot whenever you get cornered or when you're kiting a melee enemy.
Increase the duration of your Control effects and damage dealt to enemies under them by equipping four pieces of Feasting Baron's Pack. You can push for a complete Feasting Baron's Pack set, but it would be better to get the shield procs from two pieces of Untouchable Mountebank set, considering how squishy Demon Hunters are.
With Vengeance and Rain of Vengeance, you'll be able to land multiple hits within a short time that will ramp up the damage boost from Fervent Fang and increase the proc chance of Seeping Bile's poison.
A Rank 3 Bloody Reach can also cripple your targets' speed. Though the effect itself has a really low proc chance, the continuous hits from Vengeance and Rain of Vengeance should make it pop a bit more frequently.
Strength | Increases both Damage and Combat Rating, making it the main stat for Demon Hunters. |
---|---|
Vitality | Compared to PvE, survivability plays a bigger role in PvP, especially for a squishy class like Demon Hunter. |
Willpower | Everyone uses Control skills in PvP so make sure to get this stat as high as possible to reduce the duration of their CCs on you and increase yours on them. |
Critical Hit Chance | Take advantage of your rapid attacks by increasing the chances of landing double damage hits. |
Critical Hit Damage | Once you have enough Critical Hit Chance, increase your Critical Hit Damage stat to boost your damage further. |
Survivor > Gladiator > Soldier |

Since the specialization skills from the Vanquisher tree only provides bonuses for killing monsters, you'll want to spend points on the Survivor tree instead for setting up your PvP build.
Prioritize unlocking Stalwart for that emergency block chance increase. If you need more Armor (10) and the movement speed bonus from Escape Artist, feel free to spend points on both, but it would be better to get Precognition ASAP to reduce Stalwart's cooldown to 45 seconds.
After unlocking the Gladiator Paragon tree at lv50, immediately unlock Uncontrollable then spend your next points on getting Quick Witted and its pre-requisites to gain more resistance to CCs. Next specialization skill in line should be Cheat Death as this basically gives you a second life with a 2-minute cooldown, followed by Rapid Recovery as the last specialization skill.
Remember that you can reset your Paragon points for free weekly to transfer points to the Gladiator tree (if you want to get the Gladiator specialization skills right away, that is).
Whether you're an attacker or defender, use the chilled Rain of Vengeance on advancing enemies to give you and your allies advantage when taking them head-on. Given the skill's radius, you can use this to "block" most pathways in the arena and force them to meet you with decreased speed.
Most melee players in PvP have a skill that can quickly close the gaps between their targets which makes them dangerous for low HP classes like Demon Hunters. Before backing away with Daring Swing, try to use the chilled Knockback Shot first as its Control effect can give you and your allies opportunity for a few free hits.
You can now proceed to melt your enemies with Vengeance once you're at a safe distance and they are slowed down. Combined with the Feasting Baron's Pack set effect and your Legendary gems, you'll do huge amounts of damage to the affected targets, which can be maximized in team fights when your tanky allies are drawing all the aggro.
Finally, you have Daring Swing to let you zoom through the Battleground—for pushing objectives, disengaging, kiting melee enemies, or pursuing low HP targets. Even with the additional charge from Boundless Ingenuity, make sure to reserve one for tight situations.
