This build specializes on kiting enemies and melting them with Vengeance while they are grouping together. It's a very beginner-friendly build as it revolves mostly on using your AoE Primary Attack, Explosive Arrow, and Vengeance while moving backwards from enemy waves.
Daring Swing, being a staple skill for Demon Hunters, allows you to zoom around the area to avoid getting surrounded or to draw more enemies. While luring enemies, you can place Knife Traps and use Rain of Vengeance to help whittle their health quickly.
This build is most effective for running Rifts.
The core Legendary Gear pieces for this build are Vision of the Lost and Heart of Vengeance. These pieces increases the active time of Vengeance and therefore, maximizing the damage output of this build.
Hailstone Shoulders' chill effect keeps your enemies at bay while they're being bombarded, while Hellbinder's burn effect improves your DPS, especially against groups. Ice and Fire.
The War Rags of Shal'baas are best for classes that use their Primary Attack a lot. Having 2 pieces of this set equipped increases your Primary Attack damage, while having 4 and 6 pieces gives bonus to your Attack Speed. These are huge for this build since Vengeance's effect triggers on each Primary Attack.
This Set Gear also works well with Coff's Unrelenting Fury, especially against bosses, as it will quickly release and focus its rockets on the lone target.
Like in the Set Gear, the recommended Legendary Gems for this build also focus on giving as much firepower as possible on your Primary Attacks. Only two of these are 5-star rank, so most of the gems in the set are relatively easy to obtain as you can get them directly through crafting.
Strength | Increases both Damage and Combat Rating, making it the main stat for Demon Hunters. |
---|---|
Fortitude | Not only increases your Armor but also your Armor Penetration, which is useful for improving your damage output. |
Critical Hit Chance | Paired with high Attack Speed, you'll proc those double damage hits a lot. |
Critical Hit Damage | Since you'll land critical hits more often, increasing your Critical Hit Damage stat boosts your damage further. |
Vitality | Although you'll be a few yards away from your enemies, it will be safer to invest a bit on this stat as you don't always face melee enemies. |
Vanquisher > Treasure Hunter |
---|
Invest your first Paragon points on Vanquisher and get both Zeal and Wrath as soon as you can. These two skills increase your attack speed and damage to make each cast of your Vengeance more satisfying.
At Paragon 50, you can shift your specialization to the Treasure Hunter tree and get Swift Learner and Magic Find immediately to help you level up quickly and improve your gear.
As soon as you see a group of enemies, start firing while keeping your distance from them by moving backwards. They will eventually clump together (this will happen more often in Rifts, and in larger groups) as they try to reach you (you can also try to draw other groups while kiting another). Once they're all properly lined up, rip them apart with Vengeance to get the most out of this skill.
Some enemies are a lot tougher than others that your primary attack and Vengeance won't be able to clear them as fast as expected.
While kiting, you can also lay Knife Traps as you move backwards and make the enemies step on them. Due to the time it needs to arm and explode, you'll likely catch a lot of enemies inside its AoE. Use Rain of Vengeance as well to deal with bigger groups and be sure to position it well.
There are instances while running dungeons when enemies will spawn in every direction or when elite enemies will use one of their skills to cripple your movement. Be sure to always keep charges of Daring Swing ready for such emergencies so you can move to a safe position right away.
If you're looking for a bigger group of enemies to melt with Vengeance, you can also use Daring Swing to get behind enemy lines to lure more enemies before quickly swinging back and starting to kite.
