Clear Out the Spiders First

Upon entering the tomb, you'll find several spiders scattered around. Kill them first before interacting with the coffin – this prevents you from having to deal with both spiders and the Skeletal Mage once he appears.

Keep Moving

The Skeletal Mage is a somewhat difficult enemy to deal with, as it has several attacks that will force you to move away from it. The best way you can deal with his attacks while still being able to dish out your own is by simply remaining mobile – attack when he gets stuck in his attack animations before turning tail and running around once he engages you.

Skeletal Mage Attack Patterns

Teleportation

The Skeletal Mage will jump around to different parts of the tomb once you have damaged it enough. This move is not an attack, but can be problematic once the Mage combines his teleportation with his other offensive Skills that you won't be able to spot due to his movement.

Beam Attack

Every so often, Mage will lock in on you and send a concentrated beam your way that will inflict continuous amounts of damage until you get out of the way.

Homing Orbs

The most dangerous attack it has in its aresenal, Mage will be able to simultaneously summon several orbs that he then sends against you. It's difficult to avoid these orbs, as they follow you around at a slow pace. The best way to avoid them is to simply outrun them or make tight turns that make it difficult for the orbs to follow.
