Fusing Demons is one of the most valuable tools at your disposal as you traverse the Netherworld of Da'at in Shin Megami Tensei V (SMT 5). Learn how to Fuse Demons from those you have recruited, transfer skills, and predict the level of your new ally!
List of Contents
In previous SMT titles, the first step to fusing demons is to travel to the Cathedral of Shadows. In SMT V, you can fuse demons in the World of Shadows, which offers familiar fusion features as well as some new ones.
The most basic way of fusing Demons is by selecting two demons from your stock on the fusion screen and selecting the skills the new Demon will inherit. Shin Megami Tensei V's fusion mechanic allows you to preview the resulting Demon before committing to the fusion. This preview screen helps you plan for the exact type of Demon you wish to get from the fusion.
Special Fusion results in more powerful Demons, although the requirements to do so are higher. In past SMT titles such as Shin Megami Tensei III, you could fuse Demons with elementals, Deathstones, and sacrifices to create certain powerful Demons.
Creating Demons through Special Fusion may require more investment of resources, but it rewards the player for exploring the more complicated aspects of the fusion system.
Fusion is an in-game mechanic that allows players to combine two Demons from their stock to form a new Demon that can inherit skills from the two sacrificed Demons. The level and race of the resulting Demon will also vary depending on the two Demons selected for the fusion.
Apart from recruiting Demons through Demon Negotiations, fusion is the only known way to gain new Demons in your party. Also, certain Demons can only be acquired through fusion, so it's highly encouraged to fuse Demons often.

Fusing different races of Demons can result in a Demon of a completely different race than the two fused Demons. It is currently unknown what particular Demon combinations will result in which races, however, the above example of a Demon Chart from Shin Megami Tensei III may be useable to predict the result of Demon fusions to a degree.
When fusing Demons, you may come across an "error" that results in a different Demon than the one you were expecting.
These are more likely to occur during the Full Moon.
