Spyglasses are items purchased in Gustav's shop from the Cadaver's Hollow. They can be bought for a cheap price of 100 Macca a piece and a single use will reveal all of a demon's weaknesses, drops, and many more details about them.
Bring a roster of demons that have a wide array of skills. At the early stages of the game, it will be difficult to hunt multiple Mitama as trying to fuse a demon with multiple elemental skills at this point may prove more a hassle than its worth.
Despite their immunity to all elements, Mitama will not be able to block almighty skills. If you gain access to an Almighty skill, you can start hunting Mitama on a faster pace.
Safety Difficulty grealy increases the damage you deal to enemies. By using a lowly Preta, you can still eliminate Mitama in a single use of Life Drain. Life Drain is learned by Preta after leveling it up twice.
Later on in the game, you can find skills that have the pierce ability. This allows the move to bypass resistances and immunities and is a great tool to use for hunting Mitama.
The hardest part of farming a Mitama without DLC is finding them. By investigating the exclamation marks on the map that Amanozako points out, there is a chance that a Mitama will spawn.
Use a Spyglass, which you can buy from Gustave, at the start of battle to analyze the enemy data. Every Mitama's weakness is random each time you encounter them, so you will need to analyze them every time or get lucky and guess the correct element. Once you know their weakness, select a skill of that type, and the Mitama will be defeated in one hit.
If you purchase the three separate DLC packs to increase the spawn rate of the Mitama, you can progress through the game much faster. Once in battle, the process is the same: use a Spyglass to target the enemy's weakness and exploit it. Again, every Mitama's weakness is random at the start of each fight, so analyzing is a crucial step.
To keep this Mitama farming cycle going, you will need to make frequent visits to Gustave to buy more Spyglasses and elemental attack items if you need them.
To make this even more efficient, you can toggle on the option just to have one specific type of Mitama spawn.
When this is enabled, an area will just spawn that specific type of Mitama.

Unfortunately, Mitama do not respond when you attempt to talk with them, meaning you cannot recruit them to your team. As nice as it would be to have an ally that is immune to all but one damage type, it seems that Mitama are meant solely for farming.
Mitama are a rare enemy type in Shin Megami Tensei V that have one randomized weakness at the start of battle and give useful rewards, such as EXP items, items that sell for a lot of Macca, and Glory when defeated.
Purchasing the DLC for each type of Mitama drastically increases their spawn rate, and this feature can be turned on or off from the menu.
