Use Electric Skills Use Attack and Defense Debuffs Guard if Kumbhanda Charges Magatsuhi

Use Electric Skills

Kumbhanda is weak to Electric-type attacks and has a high attack stat. Make sure your team can use Zio or it's higher level versions.

Use Attack and Defense Debuffs

When Kikuri-Hime isn't healing have her cast Tarunda to lower Kumbhanda's attack. Also, use Yaksini's skill Pierce Armor to deal physical damage and lower the boss' defense.

Guard if Kumbhanda Charges Magatsuhi

If Kumbhanda is allowed to land critical hits on your party, its turn will extend causing further damage. Kumbhanda's high attack stat along with access to medium Physical damage skiils could cause a swift Game Over.

That being said, after charging Magatsuhi, the boss is likely to cast Mazanma, and if you have characters in your party that block Force damage, Kumbhanda's turn will be shortened.

Best Demons to use Against Kumbhanda

Demons With Zio

Kumbhanda's elemental weakness is Lightning-type attacks, so bring along any Demons that have access to Zio. Kumbhanda has high attack strength, so bringing Demons that have access to Tarunda to lower its attack is also recommended. Archangel, Rakshasa or High Pixie are great choices as they all have access to Zio, while Apsaras has easy access to Tarunda.

Demons That Block or Resist Force Damage

Yaksini is another great pick for this fight since she blocks Force damage and you can recruit her in the area right before you encounter Kumbhanda. It's recommended that you level up Yaksini at least once before fighting the boss, as she can learn a physical skill that also lowers a foes defense by 1 rank.

Healer

Kikuri-Hime works very well as a healer in this fight as she blocks Force damage and has access to Media and Recarm. Not only that, she has the Attack debuff Tarunda, which happens to be Kumbhanda's highest stat.

Oddly enough, you will likely encounter this boss before you encounter the quest giver. Kumbhanda will come charging at you in a parking ramp, shortly before you encounter the quest giver near the Konan 2 Chome Leyline warp point, so be on your guard when you find yourself in this area.
