Which Demon Should You Choose?

Over the course of your journey, you'll come along a quest that will make Apsaras or Leanan Sidhe ask you to vanquish the other. This presents a moral choice in the story that allows you to choose which side to ally with. Take note that the demon you chose to ally with will become a party member.

Allying With Apsaras

SMT V Apsaras Boss Fight

Apsaras values herself as a strong demon and shares her love with weak demons. She offers them protection and a sanctuary so that weak demons can find a safe haven and survive the harsh world. Gameplay wise, Apsaras is a demon that has strong proficiency with the Ice element. This makes her a great demon to have prior to the Hydra boss battle as Ice is Hydra's main weakness. Clearing her quest also give you 2 Strength Incenses which can up your strength stat by two.

Allying With Leanan Sidhe

Leanan Sidhe wants everyone to recognize their true potential and that there is strength within each other. This ideology is completely in contrast with Apsaras which sparks the rivalry. Gameplay wise, Leanan Sidhe has insane amounts of magic stat and has access to Mudo. No paricular boss fights are weak to Mudo but she does learn Media later on which is particularly great if you're looking for a strong healer for your party.

She also gives you some Stamina Incenses to increase your SP pool. This is valuable for a Magic Based build since SP and HP are only naturally increased via leveling up.
