In Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (SMT V), players can choose how the story will play out through choices made during the game. Learn how to get alignments and endings for the Canon of Creation and Canon of Vengeance route here!

Determining Your Route in SMT V

Take Her Hand for Canon of Vengeance

Choosing to take the girl's hand at the start of the game will give you the Canon of Vengeance storyline. Your game will be drastically different to the Canon of Creation and will feature the new quests, bosses, area and dungeon that are Vengeance-exclusive.

How to Start Canon of Vengeance

Don't Take Her Hand for Canon of Creation

Choosing not to take the girl's hand at the start of the game will give you the Canon of Creation storyline. Your game will feature the same story as the base Shin Megami Tensei V game and will not feature the new dungeon, bosses or quests that are in the Canon of Vengeance.

Story Walkthrough and Route Guides

You Can Still Change Your Route

In case you decided against the route you chose during the cutscene, the game will prompt you to confirm your storyline. After this choice, you are locked in the Canon that you choose and you cannot change it past this point.

Canon of Creation Choices

Choices That Affect the Ending

The ending in Canon of Creation will only be determined by your choice at the end of the Empyrean.

Certain Miracles are locked behind certain endings.

Certain demon fusions are locked behind certain endings.

Your choices can affect the secret ending being available for selection.

Empyrean Choices and its Endings

A choice is given to the player at the end of the Empyrean that will determine the ending you get. Each ending will offer different fusions and Miracles for the player.

Law and Chaos Specific Choices

This game, unlike other Shin Megami Tensei games, do not have choices that can affect your ending. The game still keeps track your alignment choices throughout the game and choosing options that do not line up with the ending you choose at the end can affect certain NPCs and endgame Miracles that the player might receive.

What happens when your choices don't line up with the ending?
You will no longer receive the Miracle aligned with your path from Tao
You will be charged 660,000 Macca when going through the subquests for Michael (Law) and Belial (Chaos)
