Jatayu is an optional boss in Shin Megami Tensei V (SMT 5). Read on to know the best strategies to use against Jatayu, Jatayu's weaknesses, best demons to use against Jatayu, and the best buffs to use to counter Jatayu!
List of Contents
Hit Jatayu with Electric and Dark attacks as Jatayu is weak to these elements. Take advantage of the weakness-exploit system by targeting Jatayu's weaknesses to effectively damage him, and in turn, secure more turns for your team.
Have Nahobino use a Force Dampener to block Jatayu's Force and effectively cut off its attacks turns.
Heal up with Ame no Uzume's Media if the party has taken damage and be sure to guard if Jatayu starts charging Magatsuhi.

Kushinada-Hime | Ame-no-Uzume | Take-Minakata |
Jatayu's elemental weakness is Electric and Dark-type attacks, so bring along any Demons that have access to Zio or Mudo, or any higher level variation. Note that some Demons with access to these abilites may have a weakness to Force damage, such as Ame no Uzume, so bring along Force Dampeners if you intend to use these Demons in your party.
Kushinada-Hime is particularly useful against Jatayu as she blocks Force damage and has access to Tarunda to lower Jatayu's physical attacks, as well as Recarm to ressurect allies at level 25.
Ame no Uzume has access to Media, however she is weak to Force damage, so if you plan on making her your main healer for this fight, bringing Force Dampeners to cover this weakness is a good idea.

Definitely should've mentioned Fortuna, who can block Force and has healing spells and Rakunda; could add mudo or zio with some essence too. High Pixie or Shiisa are also nice picks for this fight.
